Continuing my @warmovietheatre.com re-watch with the dvd of 'Is Paris Burning'. Utterly bewildering on the French side (as I guess it was). But Orson Welles completely dominates every scene he's in. Quite mesmerising.

First playtest of a Cthulhu Dark (waves at @grahamwalmsley.bsky.social ) scenario tomorrow on the Raspy Raven. Deliberately put a clear timetable in it, cos I'm flippin awful at running them usually ('oh, you've done everything in the first hour...hmm, it was meant to be over three days')

A few pics of St Peter's, Wearmouth. Once (co) home to Bede and one of the original sites of English culture and civilization. As detailed in Bryan Talbot's 'Alice in Sunderland'. Thats a 7th/8th century Tower...

The funny thing is that Manchester has spent 30 years telling everyone we're the centre of the Universe and, now we're the centre of the UK, everyone here is complaining.

Played through a bit of the fifth Blitz scenario last week, with a part where all the characters have individual stories and go off on their own. Was a bit worried, but it was lovely...a real chance to explore the setting while dropping clues. Need to plan more of these.

Also as I'm quickly visiting here, @timclare.bsky.social I enjoyed your two books (games and Coward). Thanks for recco'ing Love Letters which has gone down very well. Coward was a good ride, though I had lots of thoughts, not all positive after :).

I'm having a @warmovietheatre.com weekend as I'm solo parenting. Last Mohicans tonight, Battle of Algiers tomorrow, Blimp* Sunday. But Attack! (waves at @wrdface.bsky.social ) and 'Is Paris Burning?' are no longer streaming, agh! Own fault obv... *Deborah Kerr was 22 when she was in that. F me.

@warmovietheatre.com listened to your Last of the Mohicans ep and now watching. You mis-understood the 'take me...translate' scene. It's NOT a mistake. On subtitles Duncan clearly says 'take me, Im a British officer'. He deliberately sacrifices himself for love. You owe him an apology :)

What people dont tell you when talking about #ttrpgs is that 90% of effort goes into diary management of players and GMs. The play itself is secondary. Even tertiary.

I always wondered about the process when they changed password. Did they give the previous one first? Did the Polis then demand a capital letter and special character for the new one. Could have run the IRA around trapped in new password hell

Lovely to have this film back: more discussion of Kevin Beattie than any other podcast has *ever* had. ((Notable that Ipswich's most successful season, winning the UEFA Cup and almost winning the league, came directly after the players had worked on this)) @davepaters.bsky.social

Have to admit to bleakly loving the general bluesky view that sectarian violence only takes place in Northern Ireland. Thats *Northern Ireland* Because of Nigel Farage and xitter.

If Nescafe's media buying department were worth a sou they'd be swapping out the current insipid ads for the Anthony Head ones right now* (*literally no idea how far in advance ads are sorted for TV, but that doesnt stop me having a view)

Completely missed this one. The Laura Watson interview on the Nordic model of prostitution (and many other things) is wonderful...the main film, Irina Palm (a weird Belgian film seemingly based on a visit to London in 1960), much less so. (And I dont think that guest has ever been to a sex club..)

Such a fun episode, but checked with my same-age-as-Marina beloved and M's take is utterly wrong. Lots of girls had Tom Cruise posters, literally no one thought Val Kilmer was better looking...think thats a 'columnist in search of clicks' view...

Hmm so even the article suggests non EU work had grown by more than the lost work in Europe. And according to the BFI UK film and TV production rose by 22% year on year last year. Its actually a boom time for UK creative industries. But sure, Lunn Poly ads.

All Saints in Malborough, West Devon. The 'cathedral of the South Hams' apparently. Huge. Well-maintained. 15thC altar cloth you cant see in a camera shot,.some lovely stained glass in the lady chapel. Norman bits, recently refurbished organ...oh and a breeches bible.

As always...mapping out a scenario for the Raspy Raven's gothix season, working on something inspired by the Sisters' Floodland LP. And after six hours of little sleep I now have a full campaign. In theory. But still no scenario actually written.
