A dozen or so Tennessee warblers were quietly and methodically working through the trees in my yard looking for insects(?). The Merlin Bird ID/Cornell app only identified them when a hawk flew overhead and birds in the area sent out alarm calls.
Small white and greenish colored warbler in a field of green pecan tree leaves.

Question: was the Mw 4.x EQ in Nepal the cause of the glacier collapse, or did the glacier collapse result in an apparent EQ?

Holy heck. Ours went out last summer, we paid 24k 😱 for new ducts, dual fuel heat pump with 4 ton blower, and just after install, our dehumidifier died too. Your CA fam got what sounds like a great deal. I think we got some federal rebate in April, like ~2k.

Dolomites (San Cassiano). This is looking south from Forcella de Salares, down onto Leche de Lagacio. The forcella (pass) was the high point, literally and figuratively. It was really steep! But the payoff below! www.alltrails.com/trail/italy/...

In the latest play from Project 2025, the Trump Administration has announced plans to dismantle the Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI), a $368 million network of more than 900 instruments that continuously monitor the ocean. This is a deliberate destruction of critical scientific infrastructure.
