Fine, or possibly better 🤔

Something you'd have thought could only appear on something like "The Day Today" only a few years ago, and yet now, not even a surprise. Totally abhorrent.

Some very interesting comment there. Can't see this story disappearing in the near future.

I've not read all your posts/opinion on this subject, so you may have touched on this, but is it likely that the tax man might want to have a closer look at their books after these shenanigans?

1, 7, 9... Some of them I've never heard of

At least, if I ever want to return to the UK, I'll know where I don't want to live.

Ah yes, but we might risk some extremely rich people, in the fossil fuel industry, not getting even richer. How could you live with yourself 🙄 Of course if we aren't wrong, how will anyone/thing live in our toasty new world.

Time to gift them a vending machine full of coconuts.

Yes, but will they? I studied in Sheffield but never registered to vote there, and only voted in my home town in Staffordshire. I did a year's work placement in Grimsby too and didn't register there either. Perhaps most students now are more bothered than I was back in the 90s.

Indeed.. figures* suggest that between 40 and 60% of students are foreign (*Google search and so unsure of reliability) but also how many non foreign students may still be registered to vote in their home constituency? This may not be as clear cut as it may at first seem.

Easy to "adapt" in the short term if you have loads of money. For the rest of us, I guess we just have to suffer it like those unfortunate people suffering the devastation in Nepal. Long term though, everyone will be affected.

This is an interesting point. Is the BBC institutionally racist? Possibly. I personally don't have enough evidence/data to come to a conclusion, and also come from the white, male privileged position of it not affecting me. It definitely appears to kowtow to rightwing populist views more these days

And if it keeps going the other way it's going to be interesting*. When loads of people can't afford drinking water and the companies supplying it are making ridiculous profits it might be time for a revolution. Maybe that time has already passed. *Bloody awful

Yes, pretty sure he'd get reelected, though god knows why... And it would just be another waste of public money. Until voters realise what's behind people like Farage they will keep voting for them, and what is worse is that plenty of people voting for them already realise what they are like.

Maybe if you call it a data centre it will become tax free... Plus you might make all the local residents liable for your water and energy costs.

They won't like it if people buy from someone else instead of them, but at the end of the day most of them will only be interested in their bottom line, pollution and environment will come 2nd unless, of course, regulation says otherwise

I'd imagine that if they can make this economically viable, they might want to make and sell this as they'd improve their image and still profit. If they'd need to invest loads to convert production and risk their profits, then you are probably right

Indeed controversial, though you may well be right. I've come to the conclusion that your favourite Bond depends on your age and the first Bond film you saw. This may not be scientific fact.. though it seems no-one believes them anymore anyway 🤔

If there weren't so many "idiots" out there (99.99% of which are men) unisex facilities wouldn't be a problem. Many small bars in France only have one toilet, which is unisex... Though you can only fit one person in at a time, so no problem, apart from the mess that us guys tend to leave behind 🫣

It's also a lot easier to pick up a language when you live in a country that speaks it and you are surrounded by it all the time. Even better if you are young (unlike me). You have to give people time and support to improve.

I too live in Spain, and whilst I can speak enough to deal with everything I need to, including things like taxes etc. there is no way I'd call my Spanish "fluent"

It would appear that the phrase "scraping the bottom of the barrel" is no longer sufficient for describing the process of selecting candidates for several political parties these days.

Not to mention the free drinking water, coffee, tea etc. that many companies supply to their workers... And all that water that gets flushed down the bog during the working day.

Tbh, I wouldn't fancy policing pubs at 3am on Monday morning, especially if England lose, but I agree with your point that preparations/contingency plans could have been made well before now.. after all, the world cup hasn't just popped up out of nowhere.
