Another question: when will we know control of the senate, and which state will end up being the one that makes the call possible? I wonder how many east coasters will be staying awake for results from Alaska….

I agree with anti-incumbency. You see that strongly here in Oregon.

Definitely a win. I am similarly under the doldrums but I managed to do a batch of bug-rearing-container dishwashing.

Thank you! What MAGA doesn’t realize is that getting rid of vote-by-mail disenfranchises rural voters, giving the paucity of rural dropboxes.

So where does that leave rural Oregon with no voting in person and no convenient drop boxes?

I haven’t seen it on either host since the fire, and it’s not for want of looking! Both hosts are common.

Likewise. It’s on my schedule for tomorrow. I will check whether Hoyle voted “present” as she usually does with controversial votes concerning Israel

Ah, I do indeed do some of that. I just remember some studies of more intense hyporheic sampling under streams and rivers, using pvc traps rammed pretty deep - and it seems pretty difficult!

also getting your feet wet? I am interested in what techniques you are using. I don't think the hyporheic zone associated with the McKenzie River has been explored biologically at all.

Party that. But note that they are neat pollinators, carrying pollen for their own consumption in leg baskets. Native bees are super messy and carry pollen on body hairs, more easily brushed off by stigmas. Gross oversimplification but usually holds

Michael Palmer @cosmopterix.bsky.social · 01/03/2026
Also don’t forget that honeybees are relatively poor pollinators compared with many native species.
