PSBBN supports online software updates, it's partially reverse engineered. However, I don't envision the system software being updated much in the future. PSBBN also supports online distribution of games. It's already possible to use NBD to update with the PSBBN DP script over your home network.

1. Not that I've noticed. OPL has supported ZSO files for a long time now. The game installer also sets the appropriate compatibility flags in OPL 2. For supported PS2 games you will need to set your TV to 16:9. If you don't want the PSBBN menus to look stretched, you'll need to set your TV to 4:3

Here's my take on the GTA6 trailer. The protagonists seem very bland, especially when compared to other entries in the series. The snippets of the classic Rockstar style parodies are carp. Although undoubtedly pretty to look at, it doesn't seem to be offering anything new.

It's possible. You can use OPL to creates a NBD server on your PS2, and connect to it through a NBD client on your PC. However, it's very slow to the point of being unusable. The poor performance is the reason that I haven't officially added the feature.

The script downloads them and the PSBBN system software from archive.org. Sony could do a take down notice on archive.org if they wish but I doubt they ever will. All software on the GitHub is open source.

Not exactly sure what you mean by risky. It is software that came from Sony's official SDK. It is easily found on archive.org. I would not include the executable with your project. I do not include it with mine.

Yep, the PS2 doesn't like filenames over a certain length. I don't think there are many TV shows or movies with a sequel that have a title longer than 30 characters. I think you're the first to experience the problem.

Look what's popped up on AliExpress. A fully assembled EasyHDD! It uses a GameStar HDD adapter under the hood, so it won't be PSBBN-compatible, but it should work with HOSDMenu. I can't vouch for the quality, but at this price it might be worth a punt. www.aliexpress.com/item/1005012...

"PSBBN and HOSDMenu" install requires an offical network adapter. "HOSDMenu only" installs work on both official and 3rd party adapters.

PSBBN Definitive Project uses a hybrid partitioning scheme that allows an exFAT filesystem and PlayStation File Systems (PFS) to coexist on the same drive. The maximum size of the exFAT filesystem is 2 TB. The maximum space available for APA PFS partitions depends on your install type.

There's a handful of PS2 games that read the system setting and enable their wide-screen mode automatically. Most PS2 games ignore the setting, including most games that support wide-screen. The setting has no effect on PS1 games or the PSBBN menus.

No need to wipe anything, its easy to update. There's an option on the main menu to "Update PS2 System Software". To get the updated apps, just re-run the game installer and select "Add additional games and apps". The whole process will only take a couple of minutes.

That would be great, you never know what could be on those! 1. Do not connect them to a PS2 console before creating an image 2. Connect the drive to your PC with an IDE-to-USB adapter 3. On Linux create an image with the dd command. On Windows use HDD Raw Copy Tool
