I feel I've properly visited The Hague now! It was so fun biking here - it felt completely safe and you can go anywhere. I went to the ICC of course and the beach. This city is amazing and I love it, possibly the most of every city I've traveled to so far. #biking

Leaving my first ever camping conference, RomHack. I had a blast - took a workshop on command and control infra, attended many talks, tried polenta, and traded maple cookies from Canada for a geldbombe. Which I hope will not give me problems at customs ahaha...

Our worst winter months tend to be colder than that, around -10C/-23F to -15C/-26F. We also get cold snaps that can be lower. I've survived downhill skiing in those temps so I should be able to handle biking! (Hope those don't become famous last words. 😄)

I've got a ski jacket that has armpit zippers when ventilation is needed... do you recommend something similar for biking gear? Worse comes to worse I do have showers at work and I often see people hang their clothes up on their locker doors. Not pretty, but it's a solution. 😄

The company managing my parking space decided they would like more of my money so they increased my monthly rate by 40%. I only work in office part time, this is nuts. Anyway I requested a meeting with my coworker who bikes year-round. I've always shelved my bike in winter, but I'm fucking fed up.

Good bike ride along the river yesterday. The weather is still so nice! I'm going to take full advantage this week. Also checked out Ottawa's new music venue History. Did you know MJ's daughter Paris is a badass singer in a grunge band? Absolutely loved this girl and the Pretty Reckless.

The Halloween antler doll crew is back again. I'm hoping to add a few more and maybe spooky up their clothes a bit this year. Also I found a creepy old tricycle in my neighbour's trash (haha) that's absolutely going to be part of my decor. It says 'Sunbeam' on it.

Every now and then I need to sleep for ten hours. My theory is that I store it like a camel for when life gets crazy and I don't get enough sleep. It's a beautiful sunny day, and I'm getting outside for a bike or run and some arts and crafts.

I'll admit I'm on the fence on the garbage issue. The unintended consequence of the limit is that Illegal dumping became a problem in my neighborhood, to the point the city removed almost all trash bins from public places because people were piling their excess there. Now it's just on the road. 😐

It's pretty obvious what I have to do here, but I also wonder what the government at all levels was smoking when they decided this was how they wanted the city to be. Break public transit, then force everyone back into the office for... reasons. #Ottawa

The kids are back in school and more gov workers are RTO'd, and I found myself sitting in traffic watching lights turn green and red with no movement in the jampacked traffic, wishing I had stuck with biking better. Distance to work: 16km Time by - Bus: 1h+ - Car: 45m - Bike: 25m and keep sanity

I found a good compromise with my sister in-law - no more tea (for now), but we did paint some super fancy tea mugs at the mall. I slightly regretted picking something so complicated but I think it'll look rad once it's all fired up. I hope to find more art drop-ins like this. It went over well.

I have to betray my sister in-law. She has Down's and an undying passionate interest in hoarding tea. I've been forbidden by my husband's family from letting her buy any more. I'm taking her out and she thinks it's for tea. I feel like a monster. 😄 I hope the chocolate shop will be ok.

I can't even begin to describe the pace of change I've seen in both malicious activity and the way we must respond in the past year. It's a full-out arms race, with the added difficulty that we're defending against adversaries that don't give a damn about rules and guardrails.

The laptop to TV was mirrored well - no noticeable latency. Harder to say with the Pi, and while audio worked with the laptop it didn't pick up audio from the Pi. Still investigating that one. 😄

I can successfully play YouTube videos from laptop to CRT TV using a janky adapter that I'm genuinely surprised worked at all. Of course I had to dig out the Retro Pi and test run that as well.

I have genuinely loved my hair colours over the years, and there have been many, but dang I nearly cried after paying my stylist today. I think it's time to go back to natural. My poor hair hasn't been its natural colour since I was a teenager really. I wonder how much grey I'll have.

I got a bag of things sent to me from the family cleaning up my Nan's old house, and it had this jr high era cat drawing in it. One of my great regrets is giving up art in high school. I was never going to be one of the greats but I wasn't shitty at it either. Guess it's never too late. 🎨

I was supposed to have family over last weekend. They were in town to run the Spartan with me, but chose to race on a different day. I invited them over, but each day they had an excuse for not visiting. I made a huge amount of tacos and fixings and I guess I'll be living off that for a while.

I had bad experiences with seed companies lately so I went back to my mainstay, Refining Fire, for seeds for next season. They sent me more seeds than I know what to do with. I hope I can get a bunch of my neighbours growing this year. I have some extremely cool varieties and I'm pretty excited.
