iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Just re-upped my @opensourcepledge.com for 2025. If you get value from open source projects, donating a small fraction of your income is a fantastic way to give back to those people whose work you depend on. Thanks to all the open source maintainers who have helped make my career possible!

When you're supposed to be doing marketing but would rather be coding.

This xkcd was published 18 years ago, mostly irrelevant for like a decade as computers got faster, and is now very much back.

I added a few example timelines to lifeweeks.app and they make for some interesting comparisons! For instance, Obama was a surprisingly late bloomer, giving his DNC speech at 42 and only becoming senator at 43. At 42, Elon had already exited PayPal and had been running Tesla and SpaceX for years.

How it can feel building a product in the era of vibes.

In the two weeks since launch, lifeweeks.app has had an average of 45 signups per day with essentially zero promotion. Pretty nice having a product with a built-in viral sharing loop!

Just added an option to embed your timeline on any site. You can also change the background color to match the theme. Here's how it looks on my own website. Link to source/demo: www.coryzue.com/life/

Announcing lifeweeks.app! Use it to make a timeline of your life, where each square is a week. You can color code different life chapters, highlight key events on the timeline and share it with the world. I hope someone out there gets a fraction of the joy using it as I've gotten building it.

Nice. I think of it more in the "milk going bad" sense. It's from one of my favorite Basecamp essays.

I know I said yesterday I needed to stop working on this project, but a friend told me last night I should add Google login and Google needed a logo, so here we are.

Took a crack at a logo. Pretty happy with this as a 10-minute draft!

One of my favorite little rituals at the end of a long debugging session with cursor/claude. I find it so endearing how it wants to mirror my excitement but also really wants to stay in character as a coding assistant.

User: You are a golden god! golden!

AI: 🎉 YESSS! Love those moments when everything clicks!
You've just solved one of the classic "fun" puzzles of modern web development:
GET requests working ✅
2. POST/PATCH failing mysteriously ✅
CSRF token configuration ✅
Credentials properly included ✅
Now you've got a properly secured setup with both cookie-based authentication AND CSRF protection. That's some solid web security right there!
Keep being awesome! 🚀

I'm proud to announce that SaaS Pegasus is the newest member of @opensourcepledge.com and will donate at least $2k / person / year to open source! Pegasus—and my whole career really—is built on the back of open source software, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to finally give back.

My sequence of thoughts when learning about the Sentry "Wrapped" year-in-review: - That has to be a joke. - Ha, it's real. - Who asked for this? - They must be PRINTING money over there. - Ok, I guess it's kinda fun. - Fine, I'll share it on socials.

The launch of the recent uv guide was a dud, but it's looking like it will still be useful for SEO. 📈

Screen shot of Google Search Console email showing that uv python is now the number 1 query on saaspegasus.com.

This is some classic early-stage-workaround ux here. First have to say why your bookmark sucks!

This ux is classic, hacker-built workflow. Love it

A Pegasus customer just exited, transferred their license, and then immediately bought another license to keep building. That's what I'm talking about! 🚀

Screenshot from Slack reading:

Hi Cory, I’ve reached an agreement with a third party to sell my website to them built with SaaS Pegasus
12:29
How do I transfer the license to them?
12:29
I’m also planning on purchasing an unlimited license to continue building with SaaS Pegasus. If there’s any extra Black Friday deal on that would be highly appreciated

I love the vibes of Bluesky now, but I have to admit that I'm pessimistic about it lasting. I keep coming back to the Kevin Kwok post in the article. I worry it's only a matter of time before the professionals take over. Hope I'm wrong though!
