Jarvis on shedding the yellow, no-contact jersey: “Yeah, it's probably the biggest step I've had so far. Getting out of that, being able to take contact now. So now it's just a matter of getting comfortable, making sure it's ready to go.”

Seth Jarvis is OUT of the yellow no-contact jersey. Kochetkov in the starter’s crease.

The Jets deserve to win when they wear the throwbacks. Just make those the uniforms again already. Meanwhile, I don't like the Oilers unis tonight as much (I do like the off white/cream though), and I definitely don't like the way they defend. Yikes

Imagine just turning 29 and seeing this

080

Marchand writhing on the ice holding his knee and is helped off without putting weight on it.

110

That sure is a boneheaded penalty by Chicago

Also good for Hall to see a couple go in. He had a rough first few games.

0110

Hurricanes win 6-4 Rough start for Bussi, but the rest of the lineup bailed him out and then he settled in. Aho has been a beast to start the season.

0110

Aho > Svech ENG after Slavin stood up Montreal at the blue line. 6-4

Slavin whiffed trying to flip the puck out of danger

Montreal scores with an extra attacker after an initial shot hit the bar. 5-4

000

Hurricanes counterattack and Hall gets his second of the night off a blocked shot. 5-3

070

Again, contact, but maybe helped along a bit.

110

Suzuki knocks down Bussi and will go for interference

110

Martinook getting called for roughing on Hutson, who came at the Carolina forward with his stick up away from the puck and got the worst of it.

000

Bussi locating his game a bit here.

120

The Hurricanes are pummeling Montreal at 5v5 Through two: SOG 24-9 CAR 5v5 CF 41-12 CAR 5v5 chances 16-5 CAR 5v5 HD chances 11-4 CAR 5v5 xG 2.3 to 0.68 CAR AXhekaj (0-10) and Struble (0-15) still without a 5v5 shot attempt for. Very little headway for Dobson (2-14) and Matheson (4-12).

130

4-3 Carolina after two. The Hurricanes will carry 78 seconds of PP time over to the third.

000

And now an undisciplined penalty by Montreal. Matheson with a shot up high on Aho away from the puck.

000

Ghost post for the second straight game

Hall fights off Dobson, who then has to hold him. Hall gets called for holding too.

000

The fourth line gets its second goal, and it’s Jangretzky making it 4-3 Carolina.

0100

Now you have FXhekaj shoving Bussi after a whistle.

040

Nothing is coming easy for Bussi right now

Carolina’s PK comes through again. Back to 5v5. The Hurricanes had more chances than Montreal.

031

Now Carolina is called for too many men. Another 5v3 for Montreal

000

Aho a steal and a breakaway and somehow Hutson doesn't get called for a penalty. Take your pick ... slash or hook.

050

And we're entering full-blown ref show. Blake now called for goalie interference. Definite contact, definite neck snap by Dobes to sell it along.

060

Kotkaniemi keeps his legs moving and gets pulled down. Carolina back to the PP

But now another call is made. Carolina to the PP

Looks like Montreal got away with a hold on Carrier

The Hurricanes kill off the penalties

First period stats: SOG 12-6 CAR 5v5 CF 23-7 CAR 5v5 chances 8-3 CAR 5v5 HD chances 6-2 CAR 5v5 xG 1.02 to 0.46 CAR Montreal has one D pairing that's been on the ice for a 5v5 Canadiens shot attempt

3-2 Habs after one. Honestly thought Carolina played well and carried play. They need some saves.

050

Another penalty on Carolina with 17.1 seconds left in the first. 5v3 for Montreal for 1:13.

000

Aho to the box ... he now has five minors in the first three games and nearly one period of the season.

140

Carolina comes out of the scrumming with a power play

3-2 Montreal. Bolduc on the power play. Bussi gave up six in his one career game vs. the Habs — he's trending that way again.

021

Also, first goal now credited to Hall

Hall gets called for an offensive zone hook.

100

The second goal is now credited to Robinson, his first of the season, from Chatfield and Jankowski

040

Martinook out here destroying Montreal's second D pairing

Soooo I definitely didn't see that goal live. 2-0. Chatfield from Robinson and Jankowski right now, but might be Robinson's.
