She may not objectively be the fastest Spartan, but she may just be the speediest in the sense that she never slows down. She most certainly is one of the fastest talkers, though.

Sabine made half an effort to get up, but settled instead for just sitting cross-legged on the floor. Hands on her knees and a grin on her lips, she continued. “Good to have you back. Sorry for ramming you. I’m sure you just want to relax after being away so long.”

“I don’t do well staying still for long.” Sabine could rarely be caught in her quarters. If she wasn’t sleeping, she was either walking the halls or finding some other source of stimulation. Security gave up trying to get her to adhere to curfews a long time ago.

“I don’t do well with staying in one place long.” Just standing still seemed enough of a challenge. She had started to rock back and forth on her heels, and was fidgeting by tapping her palms against either thigh. “Plus I want to get to the mess before the good stuff runs out. I’ll be fine.”

“I don’t know. One second they were on, the next they were gone. Poof.” More than likely she had just zoned out for long enough to miss what had happened to them. It would not have been the first time she lost her shoes while walking around.
000
𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗚𝟭𝟭𝟬 @corsairess.bsky.social · 16/11/2024
“Hm?” Sabine looked down and eyed her socks. Somehow, she had nearly forgotten about losing her shoes. “Oh, right.” She glanced back up to the other Apartan and gave a small, unconcerned shrug. “Those went missing earlier today.”

𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗚𝟭𝟭𝟬 @corsairess.bsky.social · 16/11/2024
Switching out the napkins, with the old one held in her right hand, Sabine nodded. “Alright.” There was always the chance that the shoes were lost forever. It would not had been the first time Sabine miraculously lost an article of clothing to the void.

“Somewhere around then, probably.” Her attention lowered from the ceiling to the Chief. By then the bleeding had started to slow — but it was time for a new napkin. The first was nearly soaked through. “But I did a lot of walking around.”

𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗚𝟭𝟭𝟬 @corsairess.bsky.social · 16/11/2024
“Oh, I left my room like…” Looking to her wrist for a watch. There is no watch. Looking to the wall for a clock — no clock. Looking straight up at the ceiling and going “uhhhhh” for about thirty seconds. “Two-and-a-half hours ago? Maybe three?”

“I, uhhh…” Trying to remember the exact events of her night forced her to pout. “Walked to the mess, got some hot chocolate, ran into some marines and chatted for a bit, walked around aimlessly, got yelled at for spilling hot chocolate on the floor, fell down a ramp.” And she’s talking a mach five.

“They’ve been missing for about an hour.” She lowered her head just enough to glance up the ramp. Nope, no shoes up there. “I did put them on before I started walking around, but… Poof. They’re gone.”

“Yeah — I’ll take the long way to the mess.” Which she was headed the complete opposite way from judging by her ramp detour. Now that she was no longer covered by a pile of crates, the reason for her slipping was readily apparent: no shoes. Only socks. She won’t make it far before another slip.
000
𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗚𝟭𝟭𝟬 @corsairess.bsky.social · 16/11/2024
“I’m fine,” she reaffirmed, “just need to figure out where my shoes went.” How did she lose her shoes? Not even she was sure. One minute she had them, the next she was sliding around the tiled floors with her socks.
000
𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗚𝟭𝟭𝟬 @corsairess.bsky.social · 16/11/2024
“No no, there’s no need for that.” She talks awfully fast. Any faster and she would start to be difficult to understand. “Nothing’s broken. I think.” In about an hour everything would start to feel much more tender, but her assessment was correct.
000
𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗚𝟭𝟭𝟬 @corsairess.bsky.social · 16/11/2024
The napkin was accepted and held to her nose — which of course made her wince. “Hm? Oh, no. It’s just a bloody nose.” And a great many bruises, but nothing worse. Sabine tilted her head back in hopes of slowing the bleeding. “But thank you.”
000
𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗚𝟭𝟭𝟬 @corsairess.bsky.social · 16/11/2024
Following the initial shock of the accident subsiding, Sabine took the other Spartan’s hand and staggered to her feet. Though seemingly lucky enough to avoid any serious injuries, contact with her would reveal that she was lightly trembling. “Oh — good. I was just going to suggest carpeting them.”
000
𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗚𝟭𝟭𝟬 @corsairess.bsky.social · 16/11/2024
“Tell that to the crates.” Accepting the Chief’s hand, the Gamma grunted as she got to her feet. Beneath the weight of the crates, she had apparently headbutted the floor hard enough to bloody her nose.
000
𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗚𝟭𝟭𝟬 @corsairess.bsky.social · 16/11/2024
With a few crates moved aside, Sabine managed to push herself onto her hands and knees. “The crates were just collateral.” Rather than immediately getting up, she rubbed her temples with her palms. At least she wasn’t bleeding. “Ramps are the real enemies.”

𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗚𝟭𝟭𝟬 @corsairess.bsky.social · 16/11/2024
No armor today; just cargo pants and a sweatshirt. And no shoes — just a pair of obnoxiously pink socks. It’s a wonder she didn’t slip sooner.

𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝗚𝟭𝟭𝟬 @corsairess.bsky.social · 16/11/2024
Had she been wearing her armor, the disaster would have been isolated to the mess she caused. Unfortunately, getting crushed by a bunch of crates unarmored was enough to bruise even a Spartan. “I’m — ow.” She isn’t even making an effort to get free.
