dunno that death will ever feel that scary to me honestly, always pictured it being like when you wake up earlier than you need to and get to snuggle back into bed when it's already warm and you're tired. couldn't imagine a nicer end

Pure. Freaking. Badass. I wish they hadn't released that ep where she was revealed to be a whole different person -- character assassination like no other!! 🤬🤬 Armin Tanzanian 😡🤬

"Pearl" Ti West, 2022 significantly better than X i think, really loved the technicolour look clashing with the subject matter. and i do find it interesting that it's structured to have Pearl's lowest moment as failing the interview and not her killing her family

obviously worrying that i might not feel happy for a very long time but maybe that's expected and okay. i think i gotta ignore the clock that's counting down to when I should be normal again, probably not helpful

"X" Ti West, 2022 awesome, liked the setup a lot and seeing old people that reflect the characters current views but can't partake in it anymore is a good way to have the killers i think. i like when the old woman blows herself up then gets her head backed over with a pickup truck

"Threads" Mick Jackson, 1984 haunting film, extremely important to watch, most scared I've been by a text exchange, and i love the societal disintegration placed against the industrial breakdown. i think it suffers towards the end by skipping time, since the granular approach at the start was scary

"Dobermann" Jan Kounen, 1997 ugliest cgi ever in the intro. i think it's good to make a crime movie where the criminals are just kinda assholes and the cop is an outright evil freak that everyone calls a nazi. don't like that the film concludes with forcing a trans woman to not be feminine anymore

"Snowtown" Justin Kurzel, 2011 genuinely fuckin frightening and extremely hypnotic. love how they played with the colour temperature throughout, ending felt a little odd what with the text explaining how it all ended. Beautifully paced too, inexorable crawl to the conclusion

"Fat Girl" Catherine Breillat, 2001 second film in recent memory where I'm enjoying the verisimilitude and drama, then in the last 5 minutes theres a sudden murder-rape without buildup. i think it's interesting that both the sisters respective views on who takes their virginity come true like a wish

"Bring Her Back" Danny & Michael Philippou, 2025 awesome film. i love just putting a young adult in a fucked up situation and making them navigate it with zero knowledge it fucks insane style. also very scary child performance i really enjoyed

"In My Skin" Marina De Van, 2002 really liked how this film illustrated the simultaneous fascination and disconnectedness from our body that some people feel

"The Wolf House" Cristobal León, Jouquín Cociña, 2018 it's so visually incredible that it feels like I should be focusing on that more than anything else yknow. it's incredibly foreboding and Maria fleeing a (likely nazi) commune, then impressing the ideals she learned on 2 Chilean children is good

"Twentynine Palms" Bruno Dumont, 2003 this whole film i was so interested watching 2 characters have their bad relationship fall apart without any outside influences, just them clearly not fitting each other. then in the last 10 minutes the guy is raped by a random group then kills his gf and dies

"Nude Per L'Assassino" Andrea Bianchi, 1975 unpleasantly heterosexual and disgustingly misogynistic. not a moment of joy or enjoyment in the whole thing

"Torso" Sergio Martino, 1973 there is a gay black woman in this film and she is gorgeous

"What Have They Done to Your Daughters?" Massimo Dellamano, 1974 very good, found the way they position the audience as a father trying to keep his family safe in this kinda patriachal and domineering way. interesting conspiracy too

"The Possessed" Franco Rossellini & Luigi Bazzoni, 1965 la donna del lago is a way better name. also loved this a lot, really good mystery and i liked how it unfolded, the way everyone talks really flatly was interesting too, really sold the idea nobody cares about what's happening

"The Fifth Cord" Luigi Bazzoni, 1971 i liked this a lot! quite enjoyable mystery and it ends with a big cartoon ass fight it ruled. journalists might be the perfect giallo protagonists too

"The Pajama Girl Case" Flavio Mogherini, 1977 not very good honestly, pretty weak violence and generally a low energy film which doesn't lend itself well to giallo. i liked how the 2 narratives connect back to each other at the end, but how they find the killer didn't make sense to me really

"Assault on Precinct 13" John Carpenter, 1976 quite a good action film, tense and i liked the dynamics between the characters. the way the film positions you to not really care about the young guys being mowed down and just think of them as like. zombies is pretty interesting

"Project Hail Mary" Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, 2026 this fucking ruled man, loved how hopeful it feels and the bond between rocky and grace is really fun, rocky's design is incredible and there's so much cool filmmaking just in like. how the camera is used

"The Exorcist III" William Peter Blatty, 1990 really liked this, watched the directors cut which was a little jarring with all the vhs footage but incredible performances, such an interesting visual presentation of heaven, and really liked the central interplay between faith, race and evil

"Obsession" Curry Barker, 2025 this film was soooo uncomfortable i loved it, the refusal to stop doing something so clearly bad and to blame it on the victim mirrored an abusive relationship, and just really good performances all round

"The Sheep Detectives" Kyle Balda, 2026 really fun, very functional whodunnit with a good atmosphere and fun gags, genuinely very worth seeing

"Spiral" Joji Iida, 1998 weird movie, don't like the sci-fi direction they go at all, and seeing sadako's face is really weird. but the first half feels incredibly competent, very good vibe and it occasionally feels like a giallo which i obviously enjoy

"Ring 2" Hideo Nakata, 1999 wasn't great, didn't find much compelling in it, i liked the idea that one of sakado's victims had her son start to act like sadako, in a kind of cycle of abuse way but that's kinda all i got here

"Backrooms" Kane Parsons, 2026 this movie fucking RIPPED. it TORE even. genuinely incredible stuff i really loved it, had me grinning wide through the entire climax (rare action taken when a movie goes awesome)

"Anatomy of Hell" Catherine Breillat, 2004 pretty good? i do find the commentary on men being unable to love women as equal, and only thinking of them as people when they can treat them as a sexual outlet interesting. just wish the characters were a little more there

"The Grapes of Death" Jean Rollin, 1978 this is so survival horror coded it's insane. kinda love the rotting effects even if they're not like. great, lotta fun with a great atmosphere

"High Tension" Alexandre Aja, 2003 mannnn this is a mixed bag, i really really liked the tension and the gore effects were awesome. but the twist recontextualises the story in a really boring way that just invites scrutiny about the mechanics of it. unfortunate outcome
