Oh what a magical unforgettable book! The one book I would take to the deserted island. So much truth, poetry and passion. And birds!!!!! Of course, hope has feathers. A deep bow of gratitude to MacFarlane and Morris! #corneliafunke #thebookofbirds #robertmacfarlane #jackiemorris #ornithology

This is my Morning Book. I write down all the birds I see and hear with a lot of help from the Merlin Bird ID App. And then I sketch one or two to really understand them. And I learn the names in Italian and German and English. #corneliafunke #notebook #birds #cornelllabofornithology #merlinbirdid

This year our advent calendar (which goes online tomorrow) is in memory of Jane Goodall. Since Jane’s journey to Africa, the chimpanzees were especially close to her heart, so the Jane Goodall Institute Germany will introduce you to 24 of its charges. Meet Africa, Nani, Tumbo and many others :)

A photo of Jane Goodall with one of the chimpanzees from her long-term study in Tanzania, which was taken for National Geographic Magazine by Hugo von Lawick, who later became Jane’s husband. Cornelia has always loved this photo and has it up on the wall by her desk.

I followed my friend @Mehrdad-Zaeri and left Instagram and Facebook, for they have become a forum for hate speech that wants to poison the world with pictures and ideas, sowing seeds of doubt, darkness, intolerance and distress.
From now on my followers can find me here, and I hope many will join us.
