In the market of agentic mania ,apathy and hubris appear to be the primary competition for most anything involving solid engineering. Apathy: we don't need no stinkin' rigor, because we can iterate so quickly. Hubris: give me a swam of agents and enough tokens to stand on and I can move the world.

Do I follow people from Texas, New Mexico and Colorado? We have a 19 year old Black girl who is a rape victim and needs assistance with a safe escape, finding a way to get an abortion and just needing a safe place to stay. I’m begging y’all. DM please.

SAFe slop! The CEO prompts claude by speaking and sends a document to COO. COO attaches the document and prompts claude and sends the new document to the CTO. CTO prompts claude code and attaches the document, then zips the code and sends it to the Program Manager with instructions. 'Ship this'.

It is interesting how clunky some of it still is. A large language with a small std library is always going to have issues.

I have two questions: 1. Do you really believe the cost of using LLMs are going to stay where are now? 2. How large an increase in the cost of AI does your business model support?

Won't it be wise to just shut down all gambling or betting. As an industry, it creates nothing but misery for gamblers. Being online means that misery isn't really visible.

I don't fear superintelligence. I said this at TED a decade ago, and I stand by that point of view today. Among other things, any so-called super intelligence that could be an existential threat to humanity would also have to be super-embodied. And that's not going to happen. t.co/Vyp3YDWz2o

Typesafe languages are obviously going to win out. I do believe the challenge is to find out which language provides best ratio between ambiguous understanding and token cost. I have a hunch modern Java and Kotlin will do well in that space. Worth investigating...🤔

I think there is a need for a service where consumers can send proof of purchase of goods that will be used by advertisers to stop showing ads for those products to said consumer. 🤔 The question is, who will pay for this? 🤷

Food companies wanted deregulation. Now there are dozens of recalls across the country. Mining companies wanted deregulation. Now the black lung rate is at a 45-year high. Financial companies wanted deregulation. Now financial losses to fraud are the highest on record. Noticing a pattern?

Just 5 years ago, if you wanted to affect the world you used mathematics and engineering to change things. Now we are burning the planet to achieve less using simple language. Why aren't we trying to enhance our ability to apply mathematics and engineering.

Why didn't they make Win95 a separate subsystem. This would have given us a completely different OS today.

Corneil du Plessis @corneil.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
With NT 4 that all went south. The GDI and USER modules were moved into the kernel and many breaking chages for Win95 compatibility. I think they changed some stuff to critical sections instead of mutexes but the result was actually a disaster in terms of scheduling./

My desktop in 1996 was a dual processor P133 with 128MB RAM running NT 3.51 It was an absolute dream I could start my custom mutli-process make and then Alt+Tab and be totally unaware of the build. Today that seems like a fairy tale.

Moore's Law has skewed things on the desktop. In 1998 we demonstrated a full treasury system with database and multiple backend services and desktop client on a 128MB RAM laptop. When we introduced a web server for forex orders we needed a separate laptop just to run Internet Explorer. 😳

Spring Modulith gives you clean domain boundaries and event-driven decoupling without microservice network latency or ops overhead. You get strict architecture inside a single app, letting you move fast now and split into microservices later only if real scaling demands it.
