Michigan person here. For context we had a big embarrassing mess involving fake signatures during the last governors election. So of course we’re being vigilant about bad signatures. www.freep.com/story/news/l...

Little story. I landed an aprenticeship years ago. Was training to fix industrial machines. Big 3000 ton presses. You know, manly man work. And it’s these old guys listening info wars and Glenn beck and me reading atomic robo and the savage sword of doctor dinosaur.

There’s a bunch of stuff anymore that I think of as “It’s not a crime if you do it with an algorithm”. Usually applies to price setting software like realpage or agristats. I feel like it applies here too.

Don’t get me wrong I hate the killing all the wrong people part. Somehow it’s not the worst part. He then brags about running out of bombs. He’s a man who’s been pushing for every war his whole career and yet knows so little about wars that he thinks running out of bombs in a war is good.

Was just about to post this. 5% billionaires tax in Cali, nope. 2% billionaire tax in Cali, nope. But he wants us to believe he wants a 10% billionaire tax, presumably if we elect him president.

I’m weirdly hopeful. We’ve been here before. The new deal tried a ton of ideas, kept the ones that worked. That was the hardest part. We were dumb enough to phase out antitrust but we 100% know how we got here and how to get back. Musk is a monster but he’s no JD Rockefeller.

Friends with a Thai family that runs a local restaurant. Once ordered soup at maximum spice while drinking next door. Buddy hand delivered it and then hung around to watch my dumb ass eat it. Absolutely delicious, also so hot I thought I’d vomit after every bite.

I guess I’m comparing to other private equity douches? He isn’t Timothy Geithner talking about “foaming the runways” with normal peoples mortgages so banks can have a soft landing. Admittedly a low bar to get over. What’s that line, if you hate someone curse them to live in interesting times?

Carney isn’t bad but his background is senior leadership in private equity. You don’t get that job unless you view the world through a very particular lens, a dominance of finance over everything else in the economy. He’s Canada’s equivalent of Mitt Romney.

Let’s say this happened. First of all red state airports would be overwhelmed trying to absorb these passengers. Plus you’d need them to add domestic flights to move people to their final destinations. Plus this all wastes a ton of jet fuel while we’re in a fuel crisis that just killed Spirit.

That a good idea. Right now US oil companies don’t have to do anything, there will be shortages and prices will spike. More money for same effort. Or you threaten to tax those profits away and it incentivizes them to increase production to make up for the lost mideast oil. More sales instead.

Biden isn’t president anymore and bitching about him isn’t going to affect policy. I’m worried about why stuff costs so much now, not 2 years ago. One of these things we can fix now and the other requires time travel.

That was my thought. She knew she was dropping out so now we get to see her true colors. Which is doing favors for special interests likely to help land her next job.

She the one that just vetoed the state data center ban? Guessing that’s related. Will be interesting to see what industry she revolving doors into.

Was my immediate thought. Just for starters the Houthis in Yemen sit right at the southern entrance to the Red Sea and are Allie’s of Iran. I’m sure they’d love to charge a toll and to have leverage to use against the Saudis.

As somebody already mentioned, that’s book 2 of a current 3. Think there more to come. The lamb will slaughter the lion. The barrow will send what it may. The immortal choir holds every voice. Books are in the shorter side, maybe 200 pages. Would highly recommend.
