Fair question: Why doesn't TennoGen ship the second it's approved? First we need... 1. License agreements so artists are compensated 2. Rigging & tech animation setup 3. QA pass for offsets, clipping, etc 4. Steam & In Game market setup 5. Keyart to promote it & help it reach an audience

One more consideration re: cutting discs. Many public libraries offer VIDEO GAMES alongside books, movies, CDs, manga, even vinyl! No more discs cuts games out of libraries. Games want to be taken seriously as an art form and then refuse to behave like a serious art form.

Really quite sad over the loss of Oliver Tree. 32 years young. His passion for storytelling via music, video, fashion was inspiring. He was known for his sillier songs, but in the middle of an album there were tracks with raw, CRYSTAL-CLEAR sincerity. Oliver was a true artist.

Recently DE made a few edits to the TennoGen Guide's "Getting Started" & "Reasons For Rejection" tabs. No real policy changes, only clarifications: best ways to contact DE regarding TG + an even more explicit denouncement of generative AI, plagiarism, copyright infringement. ✌️

Ownership:

Submissions must be wholly original.
Copyright: We cannot accept any items that infringe on the copyright of others. Taking inspiration from your favourite works is fine, but the design should wholly be yours. Yes, we have a sword with a glowing edge, but we will not have a sword that deploys with a unique hum that evokes a major space knight IP that debuted in 1977.
Existing Assets: Do not use pre-existing images or materials in your design. For example, do not incorporate things like clipart, where the content rights and licensing aren’t easy to verify. If you and / or your collaborator(s) do not own it, do not use it.
Generative AI: We do not permit AI generated submissions, nor do we allow for the use of AI-generative tools, AI retopology, etc. at any stage.
Plagiarism will result in rejection.

WILL I GET FEEDBACK ON MY ITEM?

Feedback is offered to items / artists we feel may have potential for future acceptance.

Please understand due to workloads and the volume of submissions, we cannot provide highly detailed feedback for every submission. Note that we cannot offer pre-submission feedback. Please take advantage of this web resource as guidance from DE during your design phase!

While all submissions to the Steam Workshop are reviewed by a team of DE artists, this review does not occur immediately. Expect a period of waiting before potential feedback arrives. Thank you for your patience!

Lately I feel that my (professional) purpose in life is clear: Help artists make & share their art :] I'm grateful that this is more or less what I get to do for a living!

- as a project manager i help our artists hit their goals, release, and move onto the next creation.

- as a volunteer i review grant applications for recording albums & music videos, giving notes on how to punch up the pitch.

- with TG & art commissions i want to help new artists cross over into the 'getting paid for my work' level.

- with my own writing & art, i've heard that me sharing my stuff inspired others to get to work on their passion projects.

All I knew ahead of time was that Blue Heron has a HOUSE HIPPO reference. Legendary late 90s / early 2000s commercial in Canada. I did not expect the House Hippo scene to be one of the most clever, transformative, necessary bits of fair use I've ever seen. Its inclusion is kind of VITAL lol.

Saw BLUE HERON last Thursday and haven't been able to stop thinking about it. A beautiful, creative, deeply personal film that blurs the line between reality and fiction. Once it clicked, it was mind blowing. My new favourite Canadian film and favourite indie / small budget / whatever
