devs can do other things with github and similar sites, like release their programs to users, accept bug reports, and collaborate with other developers to add features or fix bugs! People can also fork your code and develop their own code on top of it, which they can then request to merge back in!

All the servers and data is hosted in Germany and is all FOSS, unless stated otherwise (currently the only exceptions are game servers and planned voice relays for latency). No data is shared with third parties.

It's also hilarious how 1. Discord declared my account an adult but locked me out of 18+ features anyway. Probably because their dev team eats paste. 2. As a server owner or moderator you can't even see 18+ channels on your own server which is definitely not an issue at all

Yeah, at this point in my life I'm just about done committing any reasonable time to any platform that isn't reasonably open. I setup XMPP as a contingency for me and my friends if nothing promising comes about. Hopefully Stoat or Fluxer or Spacebar get some more solid legs soon.

Yup, as a software dev, the things that the AI can do is not why I'm paid the amount I am to do what I do. Writing the code takes less time than all the other tasks, and having the AI write crap to clean up takes MORE time than just doing it myself correctly the first time.

Also when people do this process of, providing AI with input+feedback/plans, They're unintentionally providing the AI company with invaluable training data that tells the model exactly what a human looks for. When people get into feedback cycles with models they are literally doing free work.
