Its ridership is mostly tourists but its utility is real - it connects an otherwise isolated neighborhood to 2-minute bus frequency to downtown
Screenshot showing upcoming trips for the inbound bus stop at the lower Duquesne Incline station. Frequency is every 1-5 minutes at peak hour, split between multiple routes

Really something that sorting by this metric gives you a group of New York, California, the Deep South, and the Rust Belt. And NYC is still getting a boost from NJ/CT residents moving across state lines
Table listing US Urban Centers by their percentage of residents born in other states. New York is at the 16th percentile, listed near cities such as Saginaw, MI and Canton, OH

always a good reminder that the overall decline in manufacturing jobs predates interstates, foreign competition, shrinking union membership rates, etc
Text excerpt noting that from 1947 to 1954, most large cities including NYC, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh saw an absolute decline in manufacturing jobs

Interesting how much the geographic deconcentration of manufacturing may has been due to overall industry consolidation over time...
Data table showing that manufacturing firms' locations in the NYC metro in 1956 varied significantly by size; only 8% of firms with 240+ employees were based in the City while 61% of firms with <60 employees wereTable showing the changing proportion of NYC metro manufacturing firms' locations share within the City over time. While both small and large companies steadily moved out of the City, larger firms did so more rapidly

If you ever add a similarity score type of metric I think we've got a "winner"

Starting to think some of these Vision Zero Resolutions might not be on the level
Brevard County (Florida), every municipality within, and the school district all adopted Vision Zero in 2022Brevard County's TPO announces that construction could begin as early as 2026 on the "County's top transportation priority:" the widening of a 2-lane road to four travel lanes to relieve congestion en route to the Melbourne Airport

Not the most urbanist, but Rochester, MN has a bunch of amazing stats considering its size

Stuart has a slight edge here since their site is a touch farther inland

They're not too different, but Fort Pierce is closer to the midpoint of Cocoa and WPB and has a much more intact street grid network. Also worth noting that Stuart is whiter, wealthier, and much much NIMBYer. Hard to see them taking full advantage of this
