The funniest part of my network is the 1999 PowerMac G3 desktop having a Wi-Fi 7 connection. It maxes out at 100 Mbps, though.

Docker Compose is often stupid and overly complicated, but it’s cool that the entire process for moving my web servers over the weekend was copying two folders. All the containers started back up on the new system like nothing had happened!

You wouldn't even know Visual Studio Code was an IDE and text editor from looking at its current website: code.visualstudio.com It's all "manage your small army of AI agents" until you get halfway down the home page, then it's like "oh yeah you can write your own code I guess." 🙄

Doctor Who established the pocket watch device that makes Time Lords forget their memories to stay in hiding, and as a result, you can easily pretend every other movie and show with David Tennant is just a Doctor Who episode.

I love the Discord mobile app.
A diagram of the message bar in the mobile Discord app. The area you tap to type a message says "the intended touch target." The Discord Nitro button with an absurdly-large touch zone is labelled "you fell victim to one of the classic blunders!" The emoji button is labelled "high difficulty touch target." The voice memo button is labelled "useless button."

New update for Link Cleaner! It can now convert YouTube Shorts or YouTube Music links into regular YouTube links. That way, the links don't open the vertical video player or music interface for the recipient. Try it out: linkcleaner.app
Screenshot of Link Cleaner settings with the following features:

1. Shorten YouTube video links. Converts YouTube video links to the youtu.be format.

2. Replace YouTube Shorts links. Changes YouTube Shorts links to regular video links, so the vertical video interface is not used. The links will also be shortened, if shortening YouTube video links is enabled.

3. Replace YouTube Music links. Converts music.youtube.com links to youtube.com links. If YouTube video link shortening is also enabled, individual tracks and podcast episodes will become youtu.be links.

He’s just like me.
Page from “A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous 14th Century” by Barbara W. Tuchman:

Priests who could not read or who, from ignorance, stumbled stupidly through the ritual of the Eucharist were another scandal. A Bishop of Durham in 1318 could not understand or pronounce Latin and after struggling helplessly with the word Metropolitanus at his own consecration, muttered in the vernacular, "Let us take that word as read." Later when ordaining candidates for holy orders, he met the word aenigmate (through a glass darkly) and this time swore in honest outrage, "By St. Louis, that was no courteous man who wrote this word!"

The #Furality convention was cool! I was not much of a social butterfly, but I had fun and met a few new folks. There was so much creative and technical talent on display from everyone running the production. My PC and network were not as prepared as I had hoped, though. 🫠

Has Google ever put large full-size cards like this on the home page? Every time they released a new Pixel phone, or promoted a holiday or Google I/O, it was one or two lines of text under the search field. The mobile home page has the Discover feed, but that's it AFAIK.
