I love me some Malkavians! One of my favorite ttrpg characters was a Malkavian psychologist who helped fledglings come to terms with being a kindred. His practice before embrace had been with near-death patients. Now he works with post-death patients.

I'm there with ya. I watched it live in school all day, and when we saw people jumping rather than burn alive. I yelled 'Do a flip!' Humour, especially dark humour, is a valid way to deal with extremely intense situations by trivializing them so that there is emotional distance.

Fuck, that last part hit me hard. Because I've been to both of those places, and what you said is completely true. Rehab forced me to go to AA meetings in a meeting room on the first floor of the hospital. It was mandatory. 'You don't have to say anything, but you have to be here.'
