Nat Republican Senate Committee is urgently calling for Talarico to get back on the campaign trail, for some reason. My hunch is they're doing this because Talarico hit Paxton in July over his Euro trip and bc of the online McConnell rumors a few months back
James Talarico has been missing for 12 days now and it is time he answered to Texans. Talarico has not held a rally since September 16 and hasn’t been seen in person since September 26... right before taking a fundraising trip to New York City.

We are starting to get worried about the little socialist, and are demanding:

A video of James Talarico holding a newspaper dated today
The flight he took home from his New York fundraisers, which occurred on the very same night he allegedly went to an urgent care in Dallas.
A doctor’s note from the Dallas urgent care he allegedly visited
"Texas voters deserve to know the truth about where James Talarico has been the last 12 days and if the little socialist is alive and well," said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell.

Why do you believe it is in the public interest, beyond the media attention to the case? Calling it "cynical" and "arbitrary" kind of shows a lack of familiarity with courts -- Defendants can challenge it, but the court has previously ruled on a similar motion: pospislaw.com/blog/2025/10...
Plaintiff asserts that public exposure of her identity would inflict severe embarrassment, humiliation, and social stigmatization, consequences historically associated with victims of workplace sexual harassment. The sensitive nature of the allegations, committed while plaintiff was a minor and under the authority of her supervisors, clearly implicates “matters of the utmost intimacy.” This Court is persuaded that the allegations, including repeated sexualized battery and harassment endured from adolescence into adulthood, present circumstances where the plaintiff’s privacy interests are substantial.

Defendants rely upon Doe v Kidd, (19 Misc 3d 782 [Sup Ct New York County 2008]), to argue that embarrassment alone is insufficient. Yet that case involved allegations of inappropriate contact by a celebrity in a civil context, without the element of protracted workplace harassment of a vulnerable minor employee. Here, the risk of enduring stigma is exacerbated by the plaintiff’s young age at the inception of the misconduct and the imbalance of power inherent in the employer/employee relationship.

Moreover, plaintiff’s request does not unduly impair the public’s right to access judicial records. The substance of the allegations, the identities of defendants, and the claims asserted remain in full public view. Only plaintiff’s true name would be shielded, a measure far less restrictive than sealing proceedings or closing the courtroom. As noted in Anonymous v Anonymous, pseudonymity preserves the equilibrium between transparency and protection of vulnerable parties.

Defendants suffer no cognizable prejudice, as plaintiff’s identity has been disclosed to their counsel. They remain fully capable of investigating and defending against the claims through ordinary discovery channels. Indeed, as recognized in E.K. v New York Hosp. Cornell Med. Ctr., when identity is known to adversaries, pseudonymity merely guards against unnecessary public dissemination.

Ami, who survived an Indian boarding school, said that the book took them nearly 13 years due to the sensitive topics. Read more: www.kxan.com/news/broken-...
“We started comparing stories … no matter what part of the country you’re in, the pain, and the dysfunction, and the things that are happening to our children are the same,” Ami said.

2023: Rising suicide rates among kids prompts Austin leaders to launch campaign
The book is a synthesis of their lives, experiences and perspectives, but also the literal fusion of two separate novels they were each writing.

“It took us almost 13 years from beginning to end because it was such a sensitive topic that we weren’t sure how to approach it. We didn’t want to make it a how-to book,” Ami said. “So we had to be very sensitive … our objective became, we just want people to talk about it. Just to put it on the table and say, this is happening.”

Texas’ per capita suicide rate for adults has been above the nation’s for over a decade. Suicide is also the second leading cause of death for kids aged 10-14, and the third leading cause for kids aged 15-19, according to a 2024 study published in Contemporary School Psychology.

I also asked Ami and Goulet for their thoughts about Texas school districts removing books like theirs from school libraries:
Groups calling for the removal of certain books from public school libraries argue that some topics are inappropriate and potentially harmful for minors to read. At an August press conference held by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, an activist said that children need “positive, encouraging content” and not “dark, demonic content.”

Their opponents argue that books dealing with difficult topics, such as sexual assault, child abuse and discrimination, can help kids recognize what they’re going through.

City council designates Austin Public Library a ‘Book Safe Harbor’
And, unfortunately, kids go through dark and difficult experiences.

Goulet survived two of his own suicide attempts while living as a homeless youth in Chicago, he told KXAN.

Since then, Goulet has worked in street-level youth intervention efforts aimed at human trafficking, gang violence and suicide. He’s now the training director for the Texas-based Roy Maas Youth Alternatives.

“Suicide, drugs, alcohol, human trafficking — none of these things are easy topics to discuss or write or read about,” he said. “However, in my opinion, my experience, they’re of the utmost importance to write and read and share and discuss, and most importantly, listen.”

KC Coyne, with the city's LGBTQ+ Quality of Life Commission, said a cultural center would mean stability for queer Austinites, but QWELL executive director Clayton Gibson has doubts: Read more: www.kxan.com/lgbtq/cultur...
Gibson told KXAN that he’s hesitant on the idea of a city-owned LGBTQ+ center.

“I think we all have to be concerned that a city that can’t keep a crosswalk is gonna keep a queer community center running,” he said, referencing the state-mandated removal of roadway art.

Austin city workers remove rainbow crosswalks early Monday morning
While the cultural center proposal would create a facility in downtown Austin, QWELL’s desired route would create multiple locations across the metro area. If the nonprofit secures land, it could build a community center within five years or so, each of which would be its own construction project.

“We’re asking, ‘how can we improve the life of every queer person in the area?’ And [the commission’s] question is, ‘what can we get the city to do as quickly as possible?,'” Gibson said. “It’s not clear to me … why we would go that direction. [QWELL’s] plan reaches a lot more people. This plan raises more money. This plan makes Austin an iconic place that leads the world in queer community centers, rather than trailing 40 years behind.”

I looked into the book that Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick says is "so disgusting, so filthy, so dirty, so vulgar, so pornographic" that he wouldn't even show the reporters in attendance: www.kxan.com/news/texas-p...
His office flagged five pages with sticky notes:

A disclaimer that says to consult a medical professional for health information.
Two pages referencing sex toys (one says they exist; the other warns that inserting things without a flared base into an anus can result in a hospital visit).
Two pages discussing pornography (noting it may be illegal to view depending on a person’s age or region, and that it can be unrealistic or unethical).
The book features largely illustrated scenes of people talking with relatives, friends and romantic partners about questions related to bodies, reproduction, birth control, relationships and sex. While it has swear words and shows nudity, with a wide variety of skin colors, body sizes, genders and disabilities represented, its content likely doesn’t meet Texas’ definition of material harmful to minors.

“Sex education isn’t just about how bodies smoosh together; it’s about learning what it means to be a human who engages with other humans,” reads the authors’ note at the end of the book. “When we were teens learning about sex, the materials we encountered tended to be dry, dense and hard to read … We wanted to make something welcoming and accessible, something that felt like a conversation between friends.”

Dare to Struggle Austin also has said that it and Families Demanding Justice are the only local groups working with the Williams family, and that others are just want to use Anthoneil's death to advance their own agendas.
Their slogan -- "jail killer cops" -- is a demand they're bringing to Travis County District Attorney José Garza, who will decide whether the officers are prosecuted.

"That is the number one demand that we hear them voice," Herrera said. "They want some sort of justice in the now. They want to feel like there are going to be some consequences put on police officers that commit atrocities."

KXAN asked APD for comment about the "jail killer cops" demand.

The judge said that the jurors wouldn't be paid for weekends or holidays. Why? She didn't say. www.kxan.com/news/local/t...
This works out to $26,700 per juror, according to the judge; a combined $373,800 for the 12 jurors and two alternates.

Sage didn’t say how holidays and weekends were different from the 456 unattended workdays.

Beyond the five court days, the jurors’ “public service” appears to have been checking for a call or text, and “maintain[ing] their impartiality” on non-trial days. They were prohibited from discussing the case, learning about those involved, and reading or watching news reports about it; such an instruction doesn’t vanish on weekends and holidays.

While most U.S. courts do not typically meet on weekend days or holidays, Texas criminal court judges can and have ordered trials proceed into weekends, such as in the June trial of Karmelo Anthony.

Had Sage included holidays and weekends, the hypothetical total for 700 days would be $40,562 per juror, or $567,868 combined.

AI is driving society insane. I avoid using AI chatbots, but I wanted to see how a claim like this spreads. So, I asked Google's AI, "is the mcconnell photo from 2023" and it said yes. I asked if it could find where the photo was posted in 2023. It couldn't, and said it was "newly taken."
Google AI says "Therefore, the photo in question appears to be an older picture from 2023 that has been misrepresented as new."
I ask it to cite a source.
Google responds "The claims linking the recently released photo of Mitch McConnell to 2023 stem from social media users performing reverse-image searches"I ask Google's AI if it can find a specific photo of Mitch McConnell and Elaine Chao posted anywhere in 2023.
Google responds: "No, this exact photo cannot be found posted anywhere in 2023 because it was newly taken and officially released by Mitch McConnell's office on July 12, 2026."

Broadly speaking, sure; but the bans didn't apply to trans men, the legal cases weren't about them, and the court's opinion does not mention them (except for the screengrab below). Any impact felt by trans men from this is a byproduct of transmisogyny, which has drenched every step of this process.
1As the plaintiffs, the States, and the United States as amicus curiae
all agree, these cases do not present the distinct question of whether,
under Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause, schools may allow
biological males who identify as female to participate on girls’ and
women’s sports teams. That question is currently the subject of litigation
in some lower courts. Nothing in this opinion is intended to decide that
question. In addition, nothing in this opinion should be interpreted to
address or limit participation by biological females on male or co-ed
sports teams.

The use of AI tools has stirred plenty of controversies over recent years. To name a few from the past year:

Environmental impact; Displacement of workers; Alleged theft of intellectual property; Generation of nonconsensual explicit images and child sexual abuse material; Uses in phishing attacks and fraud; Deception of others through undisclosed use; Potential inflation of an economic "bubble"; Surveillance pricing on consumer goods; ownership of AI generations; Mental health hazards, including alleged role in a few suicides and murders; and Military use.

The "most devastating" part of conversion therapy for Rodriguez was how it "forces" people to choose between their faith and their queerness.

Leaving allowed him to keep both. In the time since then, he co-founded Church Clarity, a website for LGBTQ+ people seeking affirming faith communities.

"I was fortunate to find my way into faith communities that are LGBTQ affirming, where I could continue to hold on to the faith that was very important to me, but also come as my full self, come as I am, and realize that I was loved just as I am," he said.

As for his book, he said it's what he wished he would have been able to read at 19.
