The capsule is a pressure vessel that happens to have a person inside it. One atmosphere on the inside, nothing on the outside, and a wall that has to hold that difference without complaint.

"Boy Scouts on steroids" That’s how one of our guests described us - we’ll take it! We are 100% crowdfunded and 100% volunteer-run. When you book our tour, you are stepping into a working workshop where real people are building rockets. Book your visit: bit.ly/3kLX7SK

Buying the part is faster, until the lead time comes back as 40 weeks. Off the shelf hardware is qualified, documented and someone else's problem when it fails.

Every safety factor is mass, and every kilo of mass is altitude you do not get. On an uncrewed vehicle you can argue the margin down and accept that sometimes you lose the rocket.

A rocket tank has to be strong enough to survive the flight and light enough to make the flight worth taking. Those two requirements pull in opposite directions on every single millimetre of wall.

Our rocket "factory" is open for visits every weekend. You can watch our Spica rocket take shape and hear about all the success and failures from our previous tests and launches. Like the time this engine came apart during a static fire. 🚀Dates & booking: bit.ly/3kLX7SK

"Wings look like the future. We are not building wings. A spaceplane gives you a gentle return and a runway at the end of it, which is genuinely better for the person inside."

We’ve had the focus from the beginning with the term “exposits scientia”, meaning that we want to be as open and transparent as law permits in our field

Patents, no. We publish everything, and being open gets us help that no NDA could buy. Monetising, a little: consultancy and courses. Deliberately small, because we cannot compete with the companies that support us. 60+ volunteers, zero employees, a few hundred donors at 15 EUR a month.

Why is it taking so long? Nobody sells the tools we need, so before we can build the rocket we have to build the machines that build it. This welding robot took years, and it exists because HEAT-2X taught us what hand-built gets you eventually. youtu.be/6V5lNKQXnB8

About a minute after liftoff, the air is doing its best to tear the rocket apart. Speed rises faster than the atmosphere thins, so there is a moment where aerodynamic load peaks and the structure has to be sized for it.

Try our flown space capsule on for size by taking a tour of our rocket "factory". 🚀 We host public tours every weekend. See our rocket production in action and hear all the success and failures of a crowdfunded space program. Dates and booking. 👉https://bit.ly/3kLX7SK

Confidence is bought in units of time, and we have a finite number of evenings. Each additional test cycle is weeks of build, weeks of waiting for parts, and a weekend at the test site. bit.ly/4xmNnSm

You can't test a rocket flight. You can only fly one. Every subsystem gets tested on its own, on the ground, over and over.

Copenhagen Suborbitals @copsub.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
We launch from a platform in the Baltic. That is the safe and the difficult option at the same time. Nothing we fly passes over anybody, which is the single biggest safety argument available to an amateur program.

A thousand parts, each 99.9% reliable, gives you a 37% chance of a good flight. Almost everything on a rocket is wired in series, so one failure is the whole failure. bit.ly/4gEOdDv

We built a deliberately simple engine to test our unnecessarily complex test stand. BPM-17 fires this autumn. If it works, we light the real engine after that. If not, spreadsheets. 🚀 bit.ly/4ymgkia

There’s a moment on every tour: Someone sits in the capsule, and the workshop goes quiet. Then you hear: “wow!” Sitting there makes space feel real. It’s not a replica. Real welds. Real scratches. Space becomes real when it gets personal. Book now: bit.ly/3kLX7SK

Aluminium or steel is not a materials question. It is a question about who is holding the welding torch. Aluminium saves mass, and mass is altitude, so on paper it wins. bit.ly/4xbCZxG

Next week, Copenhagen hosts the global space industry. Space for Inspiration 2026, ESA's flagship conference, runs 1-2 September in Copenhagen. Not bad for a small country, and no accident: companies, labs and volunteers here have spent years earning it. bit.ly/3V2lL7n

We are not going to orbit. That is not a shortcut, and we should be honest about what it is. Orbit is not about height, it is about speed, and it takes something like 25 times the energy of going straight up and coming straight back down. bit.ly/4htXctw

You can move propellant with pressure or with a pump. Both answers are wrong in different ways. Pressure feeding has almost no moving parts, which is exactly what you want when the people building it have day jobs. bit.ly/4csplxu

Short/long… Sending a person to space is extremely hard. There’s a reason why us 60 volunteers will make Denmark the fourth nation capable of this. Only 3 nations have succeeded before us. Aaand then we’re actually in competition with India on the 4th place. But 5th would also be incredible 🚀🥳

A rocket is mostly fuel with a thin metal skin wrapped around it. Roughly nine tenths of what stands on the pad is propellant. bit.ly/4xxTVhp

The sun is not round here, because 80% of it was behind the moon on 12 August, which leaves a question open. CREW: Randy, our crash test dummy. OBJECTIVE: Is the sun round or flat? LAUNCH WINDOW: At night, so that we avoid the heat. support the mission: bit.ly/3GHsSqz

No polished showrooms here—just raw grit and liquid oxygen tanks. 🛠️🚀 Ever wonder what it takes to build a rocket on a volunteer budget? Come see the real work happening on our engine test structures. It's raw, it's authentic, and it's 100% crowdfunded. Book your spot: bit.ly/3kLX7SK

Change the number of engines and you have changed the entire rocket. Go with more, smaller engines and each one gets easier to build, easier to test and cheaper to replace, and you can lose one and still have a flight. bit.ly/4wcIRFz

Put a person in space with no employees, no billionaire, no safety net. That challenge is what drew them in. Liva and Daniel from the Danish School of Media and Journalism came for the impossible bet and found the people who make it possible. The theme: "Hvo intet vover," nothing ventured. Thank you

BPM-17 is nearly built. Welded by hand, turned on a lathe older than most of the team. We are down to the final fitting and assembly. It fires this autumn, and more on the test plan is coming soon. #CopSub #SpaceForEveryone #DIYSpace
