I totally understand. My fiancée and I lost our first cat on August 8th after an unexpected/aggressive cancer diagnosis on August 5th. We considered him our son, since we do not want human children. It's so quiet in the house now... We want another but will wait until after we move w/i the year 😭

Tomorrow is Simba's last day. We found out on Tuesday that he has a rare and aggressive cancer. Most times it isn't even noticed. So I guess we're lucky to get a few days with him. I'm not okay. He is our son. We've only had him for five years. He was supposed to come with us to Canada. Why? Why?

🧵 (2/?) It all went faster than I anticipated! I tilled the soil, removed the weeds, took out the large rocks, gently moved some worms 🪱, mixed in some potting soil (didn't have fertilizer) spread the seeds, stamped them down a bit with my shoes, and gently watered!

To mitigate some of the ongoing overwhelm of life, I've started learning how to play #chess! I've always known what the pieces do but struggled with forethought and seeing multiple moves ahead. After a week of using the chess[.]com app, I already feel so much better and it's just the beginning! ♟️

Here's my June. She was so happy to be rescued from a hoarding situation where her and many other cats were all using a giant kiddie pool as a litter box that was rarely cleaned. She was already a senior when I adopted her and since black senior cats have low adoption rates, I had to bring her home.
