Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I really enjoyed both reading and running The Final Revelation (Trail of Cthulhu) - very pleased because the friends I ran it for were mainly hack'n'slash types - but they really got in to it and enjoyed it too. 030
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 13/08/2026I'm bitterly disappointed that "life-size" triffid garden ornaments don't exist. Would make trips to the garden centre more interesting. 140

Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 04/04/2026Fantastic! Just played it with my group of new players who had a blast (even without a sand table - but what a great idea!) 000

Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 23/01/2026Happy birthday! I can see the same milestone lumbering towards me. Been involved in TTRPGs for a similar time too. My hope is to spend more time playing them in the future. I wish the same for you! 010
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 27/12/2025I agree. I've been thinking for some time that touch screens in cars are not safe - you have to look at where you are pressing so need to take your eyes off the road. IMO a better option is the approach (used in aircraft) of multi function (real) buttons around the screen. 020
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 17/11/2025How much has it paid out in profits in that time? 010
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 08/11/2025Agree. Robots need the ability to do things quickly. Lower power AIs are possible - and LLMs are not needed in every case. Smaller AI models for physical interactions could be implemented in lower end computers. I expect that we'll see plenty of demand to provide some form of on board robot ai. 100
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 08/11/2025Based on the videos I've seen, so far, they aren't capable of very much in the way of useful skills yet. But that's partly down to what the AI is capable of - which evolves quickly 000
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 08/11/2025Chinese companies already sell humanoid robots for way less (e.g. Unitree robots can be bought in the UK for <20k) - although they probably aren't *yet* capable of doing a housekeepers job). Also, why would they only do 40 hours work? They could get close to 24/7 - closer to four housekeepers. 000

Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 24/08/2025One of my favourite CoC supplements. Works really well with players in the UK. It's a shame the article on speaking Barsetshire (bumpkin) didn't make it in. It did appear in an episode of white dwarf though. 120
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 24/08/2025I've got this - fascinating read, never tried it out. It looks like it could get really intense, and possibly quite personal. 110
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 03/08/2025I also live in Yorkshire. Last week I had to explain the concept of a hosepipe ban to a work colleague from Arizona - he's able to use a sprinkler on his lawn right now. Yorkshire Water brings to mind the old saying about breweries and piss-ups. Not sure why the CEO deserves the big bucks. 010

Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 13/07/2025It's great as a potential sandbox setting, but there's a lot of footwork to do (sadly, the original game doesn't give much help in this area). It's been a while since I looked at the system, but that might also need some help. Beginning to sound like Trigger's Broom 010

Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 13/07/2025Random thoughts about game directions: * Resource management. Standard equipment for PC teams is an impressive arsenal with an APC and a large number of rounds of ammunition - but not unlimited. Once all of the rounds of the latest firearms have been shot off, you are left with inefficient clubs 120
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 13/07/2025There's a book about it: "Attack Warning Red - How Britain prepared for nuclear war" by Julie McDowell. Mild Spoiler: don't count on a coordinated government response 030
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 13/07/2025Exactly. Set up by a benevolent millionaire, the idea was that cryogenically frozen teams would be activated shortly after the inevitable nuclear apocalypse. Problem was something went wrong and pcs get activated hundreds of years later 010
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 13/07/2025A secondary concern for a UK-based gamer is: do I run it in the US setting, or translate it to the UK. If so, how many teams are likely to be needed across the whole of the UK? 110
Andrew Coombes @coombes.bsky.social · 13/07/2025Has anybody run The Morrow Project? It's got a great premise, and it's sat in my collection for years, but I really struggle to understand what the characters will actually *do* (1/2) 561
