been reminded of one of my finest posts from a few years ago

legendary post 'of course it goes without saying that i am hopelessly dependent on the ingot' edited faithfully to look like it's been made by a lethal company employee, with care taken to closely approximate the game's postprocessing pipeline

the state of contemporary games rendering has me longing for fxaa. this is where we're at. just blur my screen a bit, fuck it

010

feral cowboy sightings uploaded 2007 with 38 views @coolposts.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

fxaa would kick its arse if it worked but flipping that on in the config file doesn't do jack

feral cowboy sightings uploaded 2007 with 38 views @coolposts.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

shout out to helldivers 2 for having the only tolerable taa implementation i've encountered. pretty sure it totally cans its cache if you move the camera enough and they hide that with a bit of tightly-reined-in motion blur. has trouble with small emissives though. 4x msaa would kick its arse

feral cowboy sightings uploaded 2007 with 38 views @coolposts.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

i miss games having fxaa/msaa implementations, dude. i would prefer not to smear my screen with previous frame data or a neural net's best guess

someone somewhere at some point has made some kind of commonly-used web image handling package that sucks shit and i hate them for it. why is it always like this

010

feral cowboy sightings uploaded 2007 with 38 views @coolposts.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

and currently setting. next: - try to shape the visors a bit better/even em out - shape new shell - cut and fix muzzle base to shell - stare at it until i figure out how i'm doing the muzzle lights - re-consult the raptors den pdf lol

010

feral cowboy sightings uploaded 2007 with 38 views @coolposts.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

anyway, last 48hrs progress cuz idr if i posted: - visors mostly salvaged; separated from scrap shell, hot glue removed, contact cement residue remains with no method of removal. might be scrap. - more acrylic and an actual good cutter ordered - monolithic shell cut, sanded, heat-sealed, glued, >

feral cowboy sightings uploaded 2007 with 38 views @coolposts.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

can't even acclimate because it's not pervasive it's just powerful so every now and then i'm getting Pine Blasted and then back to normal. it's so pine it's chemicals

feral cowboy sightings uploaded 2007 with 38 views @coolposts.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

okay i coloured this in last night. hi

fat deinonychus girl with her hands over her chest looking a little bashful at the viewer. her feathers are blue jay blue with an off-white belly and little black stripes on her thighs and tail. captioned "me when i'm deinonychus. me when i'm FUCKING deinonychus." there's a doodle of her screaming at low opacity in the corner

ase, a fat dragon. she's giving a toothy smile toward someone out-of-frame, lifting a pair of sunglasses up to make eye contact. she's wearing a light jacket, shorts, and a breton cap.

nothing really happened its just the existence of this place and every design decision it has ever made in its course of being a thing aggravates me. someone needs to make another cohost

020

feral cowboy sightings uploaded 2007 with 38 views @coolposts.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

honestly acrylic doesn't even look that bad to cut with a proper knife instead of my cheapo shitass one i just need to get more and said better tool for it. maybe i can make the visor removable instead and fit a re-do later down the line? current ones are kinda wonky and you can see a warped bit

000

feral cowboy sightings uploaded 2007 with 38 views @coolposts.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

turns out it's a good thing the (cold) glue i used Lied about being plastic glue and was actually rubber cement because that means i can actually separate things still. am hoping the rubber cement residue comes off without solvent bc i cbaaaaaaaaaa dudeeeeee

100

feral cowboy sightings uploaded 2007 with 38 views @coolposts.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

now that everything's lined up right i can retemplate it and get some nice monolithic halves (..or cut the whole thing in one?? evil??). so much hot glue to remove to salvage the acrylic here bc i am NOT recutting that shit
