Cooklang reports + Mermaid = pretty slick combo. Here is data for iron, calcium, zinc and potassium levels for one of my meal plans.

Have to share this. A beautiful recipe site, and a great demo of what's possible with Cooklang. recipes.b28.dev

CookBot can now change a recipe — or a whole week's plan — until it hits a number. "Get my week to 150g protein a day." It measures, proposes edits, you approve them. Want a few alpha testers. DM me and I'll switch it on free for a month. github.com/cook-md/edit...

Cook Editor can now import recipes: paste a URL or text, drop in photos of a cookbook page, or clip straight from a built-in browser. Everything comes out as plain-text Cooklang — a file you own and can edit. Free & open source: github.com/cook-md/edit...

In iOS, we're pretty limited when it comes to timers. I've checked many apps (including the Cooklang app) and the experience isn't convincing: the app schedules a local notification, and if you're in silent mode or Do Not Disturb, you never hear it. That's why I usually never set timers in the app

Another highly requested iOS feature is a mise en place screen, which highlights all ingredient prep upfront—so you don’t discover halfway through cooking that the onions were supposed to be chopped.

Before adding AI to the Cooklang mobile apps, I built a small proof-of-concept terminal app (TUI) for managing recipes. I didn’t plan to release it-TUIs are niche-but I started using it myself and found it genuinely useful. So… here it is.

The "Dishwasher Salmon Problem": Recipe sites modify recipes for SEO, creating an arms race that produces worse content (yes, dishwasher salmon is real: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dishwashe…). I built a solution: Cooklang Federation—a decentralized search for community recipes recipes.cooklang.o.org

1/8 Right, I've just read some chef's manifesto about cooking and I'm FURIOUS. Apparently I've been living a lie with my knife drawer that looks like a medieval torture chamber. This pompous git says I only need ONE good knife? I've got seventeen and can't cut butter with any of them.

1/9 Let’s talk about batch cooking. Not the Instagrammable kind with mason jars and quinoa pyramids—real batch cooking. Done right, it saves you money, time, and your very soul. Done wrong, it’s fridge Tetris and tastebud despair. Here’s how to do it properly. A thread:

The hardest problem in cooking isn't finding recipes or even the actual cooking. It's the clash between the ideal of perfectly planned, healthy meals and the reality of Tuesday night exhaustion. Cooklang, by making recipes truly machine-readable, offers a hope to bridge that gap.
