Thank you so so much!

We won a suite in the lottery and haven't received the booking email yet. We also filed a jira ticket, but we can't log into the Jira Portal with the same username and Password - even resetting doesn't fix it.

I want a shirt that says “Got bush like GoHands animated it”

Take it from someone who actually did it once- it’s not worth it, even if just for “what ifs?” you’ll always ask yourself.

Also don’t accidentally drip leather dye on your leg. That stuff will not come off.

Like, y’all I’m not keeping space between us, I’m just autistic and gay

So many people in my life think I’m reserved and distant and aloof and I’m just anxious and having gay panic about my friends

Wrap just came off on my newest tattoo! Over the garden wall makes such incredible tattoo art. Tattoo by Alex Rodway in Philly!

Make more bad art. It’s a good thing.

I think the most important thing with anything is to just get started. Be it music, art, coding, anything, just get started. Don’t be worried about perfection or making it just right. That’ll come with time. Instead, focus on creating.

I really like using emoticons instead of emojis, but discovering new ones and using them on mobile was really hard, so I made a website to do that! I know other sites exist, but I prefer a simpler UI.

Curious to hear what resonates (or doesn’t!) for others too.

Been thinking a lot about what makes code feel good, not clever or fancy, just solid, readable, and kind to work with. Wrote up some thoughts: conwaysglider.com/the-principl... It’s not a checklist or dogma, just the principles I try to hold onto when writing or reviewing.

I’ve tried so many times for my self hosted stuff. K3S and K3D were the closest I ever got, but I ended up going back to docker compose and swarm myself.

I swear, every Reptile store I see is next to a Liquor store. Does being drunk make buying a lizard sound like a good idea, or does having a lizard make people want to drink?

Having gone to so many conventions, the ones I feel most safe at are Fur cons and Adult Only cons. They’re the only conventions I’ve seen with a consistent focus on consent and respect.

I’m getting tech people following me here and I feel like none of them realize that I’m also a polyamorous furry and boy howdy, are they in for a ride.

I’m beyond exhausted of seeing how trans people are viewed by conservatives. Hearing one of the arguments in today’s Supreme Court briefing compare youth trans health care to lobotomies for children was horrifying. We deserve freedom and love, not hate and fear-mongering.

100% - I’m mostly just shocked someone fit Xenoblade spoilers into a K8s tutorial. I can’t imagine a way to fit that in without it feeling out of place. Also, why wouldn’t they just add a quick spoiler warning???

Brb, sneaking Fallout: New Vegas spoilers into a Rust tutorial

Nia @conwaysglider.com · 26/11/2024

Although, I do hope someday someone makes something new to be another breath of fresh air. We should never stop trying to improve the tools we have today, but we also should keep building new tools as needs arise.

010

Nia @conwaysglider.com · 26/11/2024

I’m glad to hear that! I’ve heard similar stories from so many people and I really think there’s another underlying piece of it all: The community. The community is the reason I’ve not burned out on open-source and I think that the Rust community will be the reason Rust will have longevity.

010

Nia @conwaysglider.com · 26/11/2024

I think it is how all the Rust systems come together in a way that I’ve not seen in other languages. I’ve written Go, Python, JS/TS for years, but Rust is the best at inspiring confidence in your own code.

100

Nia @conwaysglider.com · 26/11/2024

I can’t capture the value of Rust in one post, but I think my favorite aspect isn’t the Borrow Checker or the Type System, but how it all comes together to Correctness. I always have more confidence in my Rust code compared to other languages, even when the tooling and tests are equivalent.
