Maybe we get ships going some day, but for now we're greatful to @kenney.nl for some really cute ships that beat the pants off the visual distinction we've managed to generate so far
A wireframe view of another very angular space battleship, showing interior and nacel mounted engines again with a huge production rule description of parts including rooms and their placements.

Somewhat more interesting than what this works well for is what it doesn't work well for -- spaceships. There's a lot of room for reuse in kitbashing together bases and stations. But ships need to be not just big and awesome, the hulls themselves ARE storytelling! Which is really hard
The same debug render engine shows a speartip-shaped battleship with multiple turrets of different sizes, a docking bay landing gear and an engine group all constructed from the same constraints engine that drives stations.

Did we mention this works well for stations? It works REALLY WELL for stations.
The same debug viewer showing a different more modular space station render that looks like a conventional real stacked modules station instead of a more fanciful ring structure. Again the station is complemented with a grammar detailing the parts of the station and how they're attached to each other.

Much as we like void, multiple AU of empty void doesn't make for good gameplay. We want to find stuff out there, and so do you. We're having a lot of fun playing with procgen strategies for making things worth finding! For instance procedural space stations, which work well as kitbashes of parts
A space station with a spine, two rings and a bunch of landing arms is presented in a debug viewer, showing a grammar structure detailing the components of the station and how they're stacked together.

Hello, world! We're building a space game with ships and void and rocks in void and elevators from planets into void! We like flying through void to adventures, and we hope you will too!
