Just arrived in Oaxaca, Mexico from Toronto: three flights YYZ/IAD/IAH/OAX. The flight to Washington Dulles was a mixmaster in the Embraer 170. Pilot flying nearly landed then had to go around for a second try in the high winds. Captain told me it was an unstable approach and it felt like it!

I own, stock, and carry in my vehicle a very good first aid kit and get re-trained regularly. Pulled it out today in a Toronto coffee shop to help a younger guy with a bleed. I encourage everyone to get first aid training and carry at least the basics.

I love a good ending. On Saturday, Stephen Land of Calgary was caught up in the Highway 11 road closure at Washago because of snow. He was intent on seeing his 98 year old mother on her birthday. After our interview he took back roads for 5 hours and made it! He sent me this from the nursing home.

In the summer of 2022, when we were covering the war in eastern Ukraine, Russia bombed a shopping mall with two cruise missiles killing more than two dozen civilians. No police tape or perimeter put up. We were invited to show the carnage up close to show the world. Those poor people.

A five year old story of mine popped up. A reminder to people everywhere that scammers come in all shapes and sizes. This guy, east of Toronto, took $5,000 from a woman on disability but didn’t re-roof the home as promised. I caught up with him at court where he faced charges. Lots of steps in!
