I love this juvenile crow, thinking he's some mastermind who's tricked me into believing he's a duck 😂 (The excited little hippy hops he does when running off were a bit of a giveaway)

Big Maryland vibes
A brightly colored Maryland state flag waves against a clear blue sky. The flag is divided into quarters, with two quarters having alternating black and gold checkered patterns and the other two quarters having a red and white cross. It is quite an affront to the eyes!

Another small town near where I grew up had its #Pride this weekend - it was lovely visiting with my parents and seeing the place decked out in rainbows. And as you can see from picture 4, even the Hetties were getting involved! 😉
Selfie photo of my dad (holding the camera on the left), my husband, my mum and me. My mum's wearing a multicoloured dress and holding a pride flag, and I'm wearing a white t-shirt that says 'proud' in rainbow lettering on it. A row of fancy looking shops in Cotswold stone with nice looking awnings and signs. A good 7 or 8 of the shops have pride flags outside them, including at least one trans pride flag.An old style pub and hotel called The Fox, which has two flags in flagpoles on it. One is a pride flag and the other is a trans pride flag, which is flying in the wind. A window display in an electrical shop. There's two fridge freezers, but also a big rainbow flag and three little 'Henry'-style vacuum cleaners wearing rainbow and flowery headbands. One of them is a pink 'Hetty' vacuum cleaner. There's also rainbow coloured paper decorations.

Could anybody help me find my cat Nyota? She's just too good at hiding for me 😓 #Caturday
Photo of my computer monitor on my desk. Behind it, sticking out at the top, you can just about see a little pair of cat ears. Definitely not the ears belonging to a cat that's good at hiding!

Really heartwarming to see #Pride displays in the small town where I grew up, like this one in the Children's Air Ambulance charity shop - seeing that would've made a big difference to young me! ❤️🌈
Photo of a shop window with a display containing all sorts of bright colourful items, combining to make a Pride-themed display. Items include a 'Be You' rainbow poster in the colours of the bi flag, books stacked in rainbow colours, a cushion that says 'love', a card that says 'love is love', and a blue wig next to a rainbow bandana.

Do you like our new bookends? 🐈‍⬛🐈
Our two cats sit on our TV cabinet, in front of the television. The cat on the left is black and white, and the cat on the right has tortoiseshell and white fur. The two cats are sitting up very primly, with their feet together and their tails tucked around their legs. Their tails are going in opposite directions, with one going clockwise and the other anticlockwise, so they're sort of mirror images of each other. They are both looking directly at the camera.

OK, so the sunglasses were wishful thinking but it was still lovely to see #OxfordPride rainbows brighten up a rainy day! #Pride #LGBTQ
Selfie of me in my living room wearing a rainbow lanyard, a white t-shirt with the word 'Proud' written on the chest in the colours of the progress pride flag, and a red tartan hoodie. I'm sort of smiling at the camera holding up a pair of rainbow sunglasses. Photo of a beautiful dog at the pride march. The dog is wearing a rainbow flag almost as a cape or jacket, and looking back at the camera. Photo of an intersex inclusive progress pride flag flying over one of the old buildings in Oxford. In the distance is a church tower and behind that lots of green trees. You can see the sky looks cloudy and rainy. A rainbow pedestrian crossing in Oxford, looking across the street to the Oxford County Council building which is flying a whole load of LGBTQ flags from its windows, including the trans glad, the pride flag and the intersex flag.

A very badly photoshopped picture of Mariah Carey. Her head is normal sized but the rest of her has been morphed to make her inhumanly skinny in a really obvious way (like you can see all the logos in the background are stretched and warped around her).

At least we won't forget the date thanks to this wonderful cross-stitch from @hdunning.bsky.social - featuring Nyota and Nebula ❤️
Photo of me holding out a cross-stitch done by my friend Hayley. It shows me and my husband in cute, almost pixel art style, holding hands wearing the suits we wore at our wedding, right down to the tie colours. Next to us in the cross-stitch are representations of our two cats, one either side of us, again looking very cute. And at the bottom is the date of our wedding, 30 April. In the background you can see one of the cats and it's clear how good a likeness it is!

I'm holding a pen in my hand over a ceremonial wedding certificate.Wedding photo of me and Ady in our suits - me in a dark blue, him in grey - standing in front of a huge wooden door in Oxford. We're both smiling at the camera and look very happy.Photo of me and my husband cutting our wedding cake together. The cake is fairly simple - blue, two tiers, with a gold ribbon around it and a small white rose on top. We're wearing our suits still, but have taken the jackets off to show our waistcoats instead. Happy #Caturday from... wait, which one's Nebula?
Photo of my beautiful cat Nebula, who has a tortoiseshell and white coat (so brown, black, ginger and white in patches all over). She's sitting contentedly in the windowsill slightly hunched down but with her eyes closed and her tail wrapped around her front legs. Right in front of her are two Japanese solar-powered cat ornaments, one black and white, one ginger and white, both with stylised happy faces that look just like the one Nebula is making.

Glad to see someone in Parliament actually representing their constituents and asking the right questions, not just deferring to whatever the Telegraph or Mail tells them the law should be... (Reposting with Carla's letter so I can add alt text)
Following the guidance, issued by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) on the practical implications for trans people of the Supreme Court ruling of 16 April, I am writing to seek your urgent response on these implications.
This ruling and subsequent guidance from the EHRC has immediate consequences for trans people's ability to participate in daily life and for institutions and businesses providing facilities for patrons and the public.
In places like hospitals, shops and restaurants, the new guidance says trans women should not be permitted to use women's facilities, but they should not be left with no facilities to use.
This is extremely confusing and conflicts with the first sentence of your statement to the House last Tuesday following the "For Women Scotland Ltd v. The Scottish Ministers ruling. This guidance puts trans people at risk of discrimination and there are major and immediate questions about how its requirements would be funded and policed.
Last week you told the House that the Govt stands for "dignity and respect for all, now and always", yet the wake of this guidance trans people are not being afforded clarity or respect.
Therefore, I would like to seek clarity from you on the following: How is the Govt going to respond to both distress within the trans community and further confusion for employers, businesses and service providers who are trying to understand what the supreme court ruling means for them? What are the risks of encouraging vigilante policing of public facilities? Have Ministers considered that the Equality Act requires that providers of services avoid 'creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment' for people with protected characteristics (Section 26, Harassment)? The EHRC guidance is clearly correct that trans people must not be deprived of facilities, but as the Equality Act requires more than just the equal provision of services, there is a risk that following this EHRC guidance...... would make this kind of 'intimidating' environment nearly impossible to avoid, with major risk to organisations of successful prosecutions. What discussions has your dept had with the EHRC about harassment, both of trans people and instances where non-trans women are harassed while using women's changing rooms or toilets if they are perceived as not looking feminine enough? What does this mean for trans men - what facilities are they supposed to use and what risks do they face as a result of this rushed guidance? Were trans, non-binary or intersex people consulted as part of the production of this guidance? What does this guidance mean for organisations that want to continue to include trans people, for example a trans- inclusive lesbian association or venue? The guidance appears to say that such an association should exclude trans women even where association members wish to include them. This appears to differ from the Supreme Court ruling itself, which does not require the exclusion of trans people from eg a lesbian association, only ruling that their exclusion would not be illegal. Does the Govt agree with the Chair of the EHRC that 'lobbying for these spaces' is a job now for trans people, as opposed to being the responsibility of govt to ensure equal rights for all? Who should fund the changes required by the ruling and/or guidance? How does this guidance fit with trans people's rights to freedom from degrading treatment, safety and privacy?
I look forward to receiving your response to the above points so that I can provide clarity to my constituents who are currently unclear on how they can carry out their usual daily activities.
Should it not be possible to answer these questions at the present time, I would suggest that the interim EHRC guidance should be withdrawn until it is possible for guidance to be issued which provides real clarity and has taken into account the experiences of all those who will be affected by it.
Yours sincerely,
Carla Denyer MP

Despite how it looks thanks to Bluesky's video compression, I didn't actually film this on a potato.

Disappointing (but not surprising) to see the BBC parrot this nonsense without interrogating it. Every restaurant, clothes shop, hospital etc is going to create separate facilities for and at the request of <1% of the population? Really? This is just a way to exclude trans people from daily life.
A screenshot from a BBC news article that reads:

"Crucially, the ruling provides a clear framework for what equality laws mean. The EHRC says it is "working at pace" to update its guidance, and expects that to be ready by the summer.

It has already made it clear that if a single-sex space, like a toilet or changing room, is women-only, that means biological males who identify as women should not use it.

It says instead that trans people should use their "powers of advocacy" to campaign for third spaces, such as unisex toilets.

And it has said it will pursue the NHS if it does not follow the latest ruling."

Can't believe it's been a whole year since I got to see the incredible 2024 solar eclipse with my family. If you ever get a chance to see a total eclipse, do it! It's like nothing else on earth, and is honestly one of the best things I've ever done.

Is this the BBC's new approach to being 'unbiased'? You just read the part of the sentence you agree with?
Text from an article by BBC News, where a sentence is highlighted in yellow that has clearly been edited but the edit is incomplete.

That sentence reads "Since then, Israeli military attacks have killed more than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed"

The full paragraph reads "The war in Gaza was triggered by the Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel on 7 October 2023, which killed some 1,200 people and led to 251 hostages being taken to Gaza. Since then, Israeli military attacks have killed more than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed, health authorities in Hamas-run Gaza say."

Before and after. These bastards are trying to erase queer and trans people from the history of the Stonewall uprising. To pretend 'LGB civil rights' are a thing. Neither would exist without our trans and queer siblings, and no amount of revisionism will change that.
Screenshot of the US National Parks Service page on the Stonewall National Monument in New York, taken two days ago. The intro text reads "Before the 1960s, almost everything about living openly as a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ+) person was illegal. The Stonewall Uprising on June 28, 1969 is a milestone in the quest for LGBTQ+ civil rights and provided momentum for a movement."
The page also has a link to another page about "LGBTQ+ flags", with the description "What are LGBTQ+ flags and what days should we celebrate them? Click here to find out."A screenshot of the same page, taken today. The intro text now reads "Before the 1960s, almost everything about living openly as a lesbian, gay, bisexual (LGB) person was illegal. The Stonewall Uprising on June 28, 1969 is a milestone in the quest for LGB civil rights and provided momentum for a movement." And the page about flags is now called "LGB Flags", with the description "What are LGB flags and what days should we celebrate them? Click here to find out." Both are now missing any reference to queer or trans people.
