This tiny device can shrink dangerous blood clots. It’s called the ‘milli-spinner’ and its invention was partly an accident…

My column in today’s @irishexaminer.bsky.social on men and masculinity, sparked by the new Netflix series Adolescence. The show raises urgent questions about boyhood, violence, and what it means to grow up male today’s world.

Starting in January 2025, various government health datasets were removed, restored, manipulated, or not posted as planned. The authors of a new Perspective write that the consequences of these changes could be far-reaching. Read the full Perspective: nej.md/4bYvujL #MedSky #HealthPolicy

Dear British students – Please learn German! It's a beautiful, rich & useful language & you can compete to make the longest compound noun. Mine is "'Weltpolitikfähigkeitverlustvermeidungsstrategie'". 47 letters (& yes, it does make sense). #shoutoutforgerman @wblau.bsky.social

Fabulous piece on the exciting and urgent potentials of so much ongoing science and innovation from someone who directly understands the implications of his work.

I still remember the excitement on first discovering #Pubmed when I was 14. To be able access, explore and play around with a database of so many peer reviewed publications, even if you didn’t belong to an institution, was such a thrill. It would be terrible for others to not have that opportunity.
