My partner @purposeunknown.xyz. We've lived together for 2 years and been together for 3. We used to fly cross country back and forth every few months for about a year. She is easily one of the best things to ever happen to me.

this, yeah idk, being trans/adhd/<nationality>/<age>/etc should never be the main thing about you imo show that you can actually build yourself beyond the cards you got dealt at the start, that you can actually do things beyond your base stats that's how you become yourself, really

Fitting... I see the value and use it because of that. Not going to weigh in on the ethics of it. And I have deep concerns about the application and usage as well as the impact on society especially alongside surveillance capabilities. As well as who controls it.

To be clear. I don't hate AI. But I do think it's important to acknowledge the limitations of what we have and be respectful to the expertise people have spent years acquiring. My complaint isn't the tech, it's the couple bad apples treating it like WebMD with their doctor.

Prior to AI you needed a certain degree of understanding to get things working. And it was very obvious if you were clueless. Today...I have actually had people tell me they know more on topics I have patents and research papers in than me and tell me they got it from an AI. That's not ok.

That it does. Especially when you're dependent on it working because you've used it so long. So you just get a...have to fix it moment. Ex, self hosted: git, ci\cd, music, package mirrors, image gallery, document editing, password manager, sunshine, nas No docs = good luck debugging it

The realization that when you build a home lab and then keep building it over 6-7 years. Maybe just maybe you should update the documentation. 😂 Because sure I can mentally keep track of 6 nodes of VMs, a 4 node k8s cluster, and 5 routers. No...cue spending an entire day documenting things. 😂

It's an old dev box of @purposeunknown.xyz. Currently deployed with proxmox and some VMs one of them being Talos (k8s worker vm) Also you know the nice thing of multiple nodes in k8s if that network card gets unplugged the workloads will just move to another node. :)

Here's the rest of the infrastructure. Top shelf firewall and routing for a server in the den. Server 2nd to last photo. Bottom shelf AI compute shelf for running the agent harness and AI project experiments isolated from the network. 2.5gbs card is passed through to a VM on the k8s net.

Look normal people have 3 OSes on their desktop in a 4U chassis in the rack that they programmatically set with efibootmgr (and turn on with wake-on-lan) and stream the connection back from...right? Look hypervisor development drives you a tad insane just from the nature of it. 😅😂

Thinking of completely normal solutions to problems. Like resetting the CMOs on a motherboard by programmatically jumping pins with an esp8266 over wifi. For context: This server box has sodimm to desktop ddr adapters which always cause issues on the first boot. Resetting the CMOs fixes the issue.

I did not exactly consider when I was doing my undergrad thesis and launching pentests that I would be applying cybersecurity principles for ai actions...add one onto your home network with shell access and... ...let's just say it's been very interesting in terms of threat modeling 😅

The box itself we were looking at is a...Ryzen 5 with 32gb memory. Mostly just to run agent processes. I think we got it on Amazon for a couple hundred about a year back? Inference is a mix of repurposed GPUs in current\previous gaming boxes as well as some Macs acquired through hardware trading.
