And on the night he sired you, he had a dream in which it seemed a dragon issued from him that burned all his lands and killed his men...it charged him and was about to devour him, but he defended himself and slew it, though he himself was fatally poisoned by it.' - LANCELOT IV; 167 | #KAMD #art

Drawing of King Arthur, from legend. His his face is pale, solemn and tracelike, as erupting from his temple in thick gush of blood is a white coiling snake. It's body encircles an inflamed Camelot.

Sketch commission for my buddy @kingmordred.bsky.social of his character Angela, thank you so much for letting me draw her!! 🖤🩸

A b/w and red sketch of King Mordred's character, Angela, standing in front of a shattered mirror and sink basin, overflowing with a torrent of blood. She looks over her shoulder, with a sense of panic. A pair of eyes in the mirror stare back at her as she does.

More art waffle - really big fan of John Austen's work for Hamlet 1922. Delicious compositions all around; fluid gestures, intense shadow inks, and the imagery so thoughtfully constructed - it all oozes drama. Honestly prefer him over Beardsley in this era imo

Also shout out to Grimshaw for being a fellow Arthurian nerd naming his kids after medlit characters and painting at least 3 versions of Lady of Shallot/Elaine of Astolat, never let anyone stop you drawing the same thing over and over again

Ram (from the computer) @computerram.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

John Atkinson Grimshaw is another favourite for enviros. I grew up in or adjacent to a lot of industrial towns so I have a bias for the subject matter lol. Much the other side of the spectrum to Turner - that muggy air he's painted feels so real and damp, and he paints the afterglow of rain so well

Ram (from the computer) @computerram.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

Your fascination with a seaborne fog painting the entire canvas various shades of off-white enraptures me sir, truly RIP Turner you would have loved Silent Hill

I don't have a huge catalogue of artists I enjoy specifically for their enviro/landscape works but as classic artists go I do have a big fondness for Turner. His paintings have this wonderful, hazy, pearlescent look to them that captures what a half remembered dream or nightmare looks like to me

also these two just for funnies why is blancheflor the funniest girl in the world

‘Lady, your friend the worthy Perceval sends you greetings.’
The lady was amazed. And when she heard them say that he was coming with her uncle Gorneman, she was so lost in joy that if her fingernails had been pulled out I don’t think she’d have felt a thing! She jumped up at once, like a startled beast, and was about to run off through the streets to meet him when her maids caught hold of her.
‘Oh, lady!’ they said, ‘all your dignity’s lost when you’re so carried
away!’
But the girl replied: ‘I can’t help it, leave me be! If you were in love you
wouldn’t reproach me for this. But I’ll take your advice.’

Meanwhile the girl Blancheflor lay down in a rich and beautiful
chamber with her maids around her. Much to her delight her maids fell
into a happy sleep, but she did not: for Love was calling and goading her, not letting her rest at all; and she began to think such sweet thoughts about Perceval that she decided to go and talk with him, and nothing was going to stop her.
‘But no, I daren’t go.’
‘Why not?’
‘Because he’d love me less for doing so, and reproach me for it and
think me loose and forward.’
‘If I don’t go he’ll think me cold and stubborn, since I usually have gone to him, and that I’m leaving him out of excessive pride, and that I’m
feeling very sure of myself now that he’s promised to marry me.’
‘However he may reproach me, I’m going.’

was re-reading thru the gerbert continuation earlier and theyre so sweet with eachother omg its sickening...

And with that Perceval turned his horse towards Blancheflor. And when she saw him she felt embarrassed and turned pale and stayed motionless. But that is usual: when a girl fired with love sees the object of her love right there before her, she will always pale and be confused and at a loss for words. Perceval was rather worried when he saw her so subdued; he spurred his horse towards her and greeted her ten times, rapidly; and she, sighing, returned his greetings sweetly more than thirty times over, and then gazed at him adoringly like the lovesick girl she was. Then she greeted her uncle and her cousins at once. And Perceval took her by the hands, and then embraced her, for he loved her deeply; and he called her his very sweet love, and she called him her dear sweetheart; and then he began to embrace her at the waist, for Love was spurring him.

Then she sat up in bed and put on her shirt and donned a mantle,
and slipped away from her maids, passed into the hall and headed on. She no longer cared who saw her or who might whisper about her; Love had emboldened her so much that she thought whatever she did was for the best. She came to Perceval’s bed, naked beneath her shirt and mantle, and leaned on the edge. Perceval, who had heard her coming, took her in his arms and hugged her tightly beneath the sheets and kissed her sweetly. They took great
pleasure in each other; and they could indeed feel at ease with their kissing and embracing, for it went no further. They preferred to wait until they
could be together without sinning.
And that was how they spent the night. The girl was greatly
comforted by their kissing and their talking; and then, when they saw the dawn, she crept back to her bed and lay happily until the day was bright and fair.

Perceval, who was now riding through the street with Blancheflor behind him and a great crowd of people following close after. Everyone who saw them was amazed by their beauty, and hurried on to the church to be on the spot for a better view. Perceval dismounted right at the door of the church and came running to the girl with outstretched arms and set her down;
