After like 2 straight days of trouble shooting, i managed to get my old copy of kidpix to run on my laptop! turns out kidpix is actually very hard to use because it's meant to be a game for kids and not an actual art program, BUT i want to practice a bit more and maybe open kidpix commissions

i agree!! i use it very casually across the gender board for funsies. but it def comes with a lot of gendered ideas outside of queer circles my point is less about what wife is and more that the word husband is just not a fun word to say and i think it would be nice if everyone is just wife

also words are made up and you can use whatever you want. honestly i am yearning for a better neutral alternative for spouse that isn't spouce or one of the silly ones. wife is just a good word and i dream of a world where it doesnt come with a billion weird gender conotations

hot gender take of the day: do away with the word husband and make wife gender nutral and apply to everyone. wife is a much better word, husband is so clunky and formal and has no good alternatives. everyone should get to be wife. thank you for your time.

put stuff on your convention tables that are 1 to 3 dollars draw and then print zines at home and sell em for cheap make postcards that you can get in bulk and then sell em for a dollar 500 postcards with your art on the front and a link to your aite on the back for $30 bucks at $1 per postcard

yeah! that's kinda how I feel about it. for nonbinary people it feels like trying to find a new binary to define them by. or like when people would use afab and amab, but instead of defining where you're from it's about where you're transness is perceived to be "going"

again, i dont think it's bad if people use this in a broad way or as a self-identifier. i don't even necessarily think it's bad necessarily, usually people who use it mean well. but i feel like the way we apply gender to the ideas of masc and fem is where issues lie, not to gender itself.

I'm curious as to how binary trans folk see this, because i tend to notice it a lot when it's applied to binary trans people in place of "trans man" or "trans women". does it feel like de-gendering? being nonbinary, i tend to get labled as "transmasc" and it feels a bit like being clocked

Like, i think in practice they work for broader discussions of transness in a way that includes nonbinary folks. But it often gets turned into more lables we use on actual trans people, which is where i find it strange. gender is a construct, but masculine and feminine are an even looser construct
