I just read this comment on a reddit thread about what framework is the closest to vanilla JS and it made me really think about how large of an abstraction React really is. 🧵

"React. I know people are not gonna agree. But react is the lord of leaky abstractions. You have to do everything The React Way™. Otherwise you're out of luck. Solid, Svelte, Vue, and most other frameworks only provide abstractions on top of the web. React tries to reinvent it. And while that comes with the upside of things like React Native being able to target any platform/SDK quite trivially, it still means that you're never really using the platform. you're using React. And using React feels like shit."

Not trying to be too political here, but if we have: - A TV doctor leading the Department of Health - An ex-WWE CEO leading the Department of Education - A selfish billionaire as head of a made-up department created as a meme I'm fairly certain we have a kakistocracy.

A kakistocracy is a government run by the worst, least qualified, or most unscrupulous citizens. The word was coined as early as the seventeenth century.
