Kid wants to play light sabers near dog? In my latest post, I offer scripts to keep both safe. Tl;dr: Keep kiddo swordplay far away from the dog! full post: www.compassiondudedogs.com/newsletter/k... #dogpluskid #fearfuldog #dogtrainerla #dogsoflosangeles #parenting

Wait for it..Trixie counter-surfing for sushi salmon! Even on prescribed meds for fireworks, Trixie doesn't miss a beat! The salmon was for her too but I'd been giving her tiny pieces one by one when she heard fireworks. I'd stepped away to make her a lick mat. #rplus #dogdad #forcefree #dogtrainer

"Balanced" dog training is anything but! There is nothing true or good about "balanced" dog training. "Balanced" is just a misleading word for using fear and pain on your dog. I believe in compassionate dog training. Kind, science-based dog training uses stuff dogs *like* to change behavior.

On the left, a picture of four rocks balanced on top of each other, with the ocean in the background. Below is a green checkmark and the word "true". On the right, a picture of a prong collar: metal links with spikes facing inwards. Below the image is a red X and the word "false".

When we train force-free, we make it comfy as possible! Trixie lay down in an elbow mac curve which didn't look super comfy. So I lured her to straighten out a lil. Then gave her my hand. Trixie chin rests to tell me she's cool with another rep of toothbrush training. #forcefree #rplus

When we do consent-based nail trim training… Trixie feels trusting enough to try to take *all* the chicken. Makes me happy. Does your dog do anything “naughty” you love to see? #rplus #dogsofbluesky #forcefree #dogtrainer #dogdad

Trixie resettling after package delivery! So happy and proud of Trixie to see this. We’re step by step helping Trixie reset on separation anxiety in a new place, after multiple moves. Trixie barked a few times when delivery came but then settled back on this bed. Way to go Beano! #rplus #forcefree

Trixie crushing an easy separation anxiety mission today. Yesterday she did great on a long assessment. She also moved around a bunch to places where she could see the door. So I put a bed down for her and she used it on this absence! So proud of our Bean! #rplus #forcefree #dogdad

Trixie sniffing treat targets while we watch Wicked again! Treat targets are helping Trixie get more confident in our new home. Treat targets are also great enrichment when you’re stuck indoors because of bad air quality. #rplus #forcefree

Hmm idk if we’re gonna manage a separation anxiety training sesh today. As soon as my partner left Trixie was like laptime! I get it, it’s been a rough time with moving and fires and multiple motels. If Trixie needs comfort I’m here for that! #separationanxiety #losangeles #forcefree #dogdad

Stuck inside because of LA fires and bad / uncertain air quality? Is your dog super bored? Try treat toss! Step 1: get small treats, hard if possible to make a sound Step 2: toss treats around room for your dog to find #dog #dogenrichment #indoors #dogtrainingtips #forcefree
