Sunday thought Hebrews 10:24-25 Let us consider how to provoke one another to love & good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. In what ways could we ‘provoke one another to love and good deeds?’
A torn scrap of paper with the words “Community is much more than belonging to something: it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter” on it.

Sunday thought (from Sheryl) “The world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles, no matter how long, but only by a spiritual journey, a journey of one inch, very arduous and humbling and joyful, by which we arrive at the ground at our feet, and learn to be at home.” Wendell Berry 1934 – 2026
A grey box with a Wendell Berry quote: “The world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles, no matter how long, but only by a spiritual journey, a journey of one inch, very arduous and humbling and joyful, by which we arrive at the ground at our feet, and learn to be at home.”

Sunday thought (from Sheryl) Jesus says: “Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 What does it mean for you to rest?
The symbol for a musical rest is in a white square with a black outline. This is placed on a light brown textured background like woodgrain.

Sunday thought (from Sheryl) 1 Corinthians 13:12 “For now we see only a reflection, as in a mirror, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.” What does it mean to you to be ‘fully known’?
A group of bare-branched trees surround a lake, highlighted against a rich blue sky. The colour of the sky and the trees are mirrored in the still water of the lake in front of them.

Sunday thought from Sally Love 1 John 4:16-18 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. [...] Perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
August 30th Love.

1 John 4:16-18

And so we know and rely on the love God has
for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in
God, and God in them. This is how love is
made complete among us so that we will have
confidence on the day of judgment: In this world
we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But
perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to
do with punishment. The one who fears is not
made perfect in love.

Sunday thought (from Sally) Diversity 1 Corinthians 12:12 Unity and Diversity in the Body Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.
Many differently coloured hands surround the word Diversity. Some of the hands have been painted with different patterns.

August 2nd Equality
Galatians 3:26-29

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Sunday thought (from Jenn) Libraries are full of stories. So too are films and other forms of media. Some will be familiar, but we might find others more challenging. How can we remain open to the presence of God as we learn?
A mock road sign, a warning triangle containing a silhouette of a domestic roof topped with an angel holding a book. It reads "Caution Mind-expanding stories ahead." The actual building behind it - Dennistoun Library.

Sunday thought (from Jenn) Diversions can be disorienting, making us late, stressed or even lost. Often we have to trust the signs or hope that the satnav can find an alternative. How do you stay connected with God when unexpected things happen?
Photo roadworks on an urban street. Signs declaring "Road Ahead Closed" and "Diversion" with lots of arrows pointing left. Ahead, part of the road is fenced off and decorated with "no entry" signs.

Thought (from Val) Silence Jesus said: ‘On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.’ (John 14:20) Pause for the space of 3 deep breaths; it could be in a cathedral, or in the corner of your living room. In that silence, can you sense Christ in you, and you in him?

Thought (from Niall) - Sheep are often seen as symbols of calm and peace. Pastoral scenes are hopeful. Jesus comes as a shepherd who can be trusted. In a world where peace and trust are hard to find, why not join the next 5-day Community 'Practising Peace'? www.communitysf.org.uk/index.php/20...

Sunday thought (from Niall) - Resurrection appearances - the road to Emmaus Two downtrodden disciples walk home together but a stranger joins them and they see the world differently. Later, when he breaks bread they recognise Jesus. When has a stranger helped you see the world differently?

Sunday thought (from Niall) - Resurrection appearances - the upper room The disciples meet together - in a locked room for safety - and Jesus meets them anyway and blesses them. Thomas misses out and needs to see for himself. What blessings do you need to let in through a door you have shut?

Sunday thought (from Niall) - In our Morning Prayer, prayers for others are held 'in the light of God’s sunrise.' On this Easter Sunday morning many places celebrate communion outdoors, remembering the women who discovered the empty tomb early in the morning.
