it's common knowledge that one reason players prefer larger markets is due to the more lucrative endorsements available. If a deal is explicitly promised or just known that it will occur, that doesn't seem like a big deal to me. We also already know that Rubin did something similar with Harden.

Part of that is the Lebron and Jaylen impact but also because I expect almost every player on the roster to contribute. Too many guys to keep track of. With the expection of the two true back up centers 🙃

In years past at this time, I was like "damn, can't wait to see what D. House and Watford are going to add to the team." This year I keep forgetting that Dean Wade, Barlow and KCP are even on the team!

It's hard because a lot of those players had years that were better than TJ's peak, but a lot haven't been able to hang long term. So, he's in the conversation top 10 but mostly due to longevity.

They are great live. In my memory there was no banter or even acknowledging the crowd, they start ,play and end.

When I saw them, it was the second of three shows. The Curse and Strike Anywhere played. Looking it up now and Grey Area reunited for the Sunday show. That would have been sick though I don't think I knew who they were back then.

It's Kid Dynamite easily for me because growing up in central NY I just missed them when they were together but was able to catch the first reunion. incredible. I saw Bouncing Souls at an anti-war protest in DC with Le Tigre and they were amazing. Were able to conquer a mixed outdoor audience.

Encouraging footage from the LBJ, Maxey and JB workout. I for one am relieved that Lebron can still dunk.

I am usually hyper sensitive in this topic, but the way he laid it would didn’t seem all that moralizing to me. He had similar thing to say about Jalen Williams. and it wasn’t snide as it is from other ringer people I do my best to avoid. but still very clickbait title.

I like this approach, though personally I would like to believe that if (when) the sixers win the chip no one will be able to tell anything for at least the next 82 games.

I don't think it's a perfect fit stylistically, having one automatic 3pt shooter would be ideal, as it's only Maxey. But something Steve Jones always talks about which I like is pressure points. I think all five players should be able to create and take advantage of the pressure points created.

I imagine they both shoot pretty well on wide open 3's. And right, if you sag off too far you are giving up too much of a runway/ lateral space to drive. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

From a spacing perspective the shift from Oubre and PG to LBJ & JB is going to be massive. Even with losing the best pure shooter in PG, at this point he's barley driving to the rim. The starting 5 can now all shoot, and all attack a close out. Oubre wasn't being guarded and PG couldn't drive.

All this. It's also possible that Jose Alvardo saved the finals for them with his game four outburst. That's what makes championships special. it's also why it doesn't make sense for everyone to copycat the winner, or build grand narratives after one playoff run.

Will Brown have bad on/off numbers and they are a great team. Or will he have great on/off numbers and they are 6 seed or lower? I do think that his ability/desire to drive will mitigate his more frustrating habits. running actions that ends with a scrambling D, his drives could be a major asset.

I think Walker could definitely be useful regular bench piece. especially now with more offensive talent and can ask him to just rebound and spot up. kind of player that Lebron style of playmaking will make better.

in the regular season I do wonder if LeBron could work at the 5/4 paired with Barlow/ Walker along with Brown and two of the guards.

Don’t really know what to do with myself so taking an extra long lunch break riding around Providence popping wheelies and riding down all the stairs I can find like I am 16. Thanks Lebron.

Besides it being surreal/hilarious that Lebron would ever pick Philly over Cleveland and Miami, he's also at this time in his career the perfect player for this team. Like spurs Boris Diaw or Batum of 5 years ago also would have worked. But this is as good as it gets.

OCK proved it's not great to have a lot of guards with only one in SGA that can beat anyone off the dribble. Spurs proved that's it's not great to have lots of guards that aren't great shooters. Simons can do both. Philon MIGHT be able to as well.

I think McCain has some rather unique skills (mainly constant off ball movement) that is really tantalizing and makes him different than other similar guards. Though I think a lot of it is more aesthetic bonus than necessary making him better than someone like Simons.

I like the Sexton comp. Another one is Dennis Schroder. If he can bring that level of playmaking, he could be a helpful NBA player on a good team. So far, his most impressive moves tend to come out of the pick n roll as a ball handler. I do wonder how many of those reps he gets as a rookie.

If I was a NBA GM I would have a “no frequent golfers“ rule and I wouldn’t have to worry if the GOAT would join my team. because I wouldn’t let him.

I wouldn't give a damn where Lebron signs and think dragging it out is obnoxious (he has the right) except that he would be a perfect fit for this Sixers team that needs size, playmaking and defense.

Ben_Mulligan @common-nocturne.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
Philly might be the best fit from A basketball and even legacy standpoint. but by going to Miami or Cleveland he will be celebrated even if he doesn’t win. I think our sixers are the least likely for sure.

he said they have been shutting down the Process down for the last x years which is true except for, well, last season. I am hoping it’s a Drummond situation where it’s awkward at first but only momentarily. Jo did post that he was in NJ for Brazil/Norway game so he’s close by.

it’s interesting, the advanced numbers say that the only constant player on great/good series of teams is the high usage player who makes them worse. Excited to see how it turns out in Philly.

Ben_Mulligan @common-nocturne.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
Yeah, that makes sense to me. i am not sure if the rules forbid that sort of conditions or if its only up to the teams to consent to the deal.
010
Ben_Mulligan @common-nocturne.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
Gotcha that's a good point; my guess is to be able to dangle those they would have to say something like "if sixers don't get a 2028 pick freezing the other one's team X gets 2033 pick or first born or whatever, take it all."
110
Ben_Mulligan @common-nocturne.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
Conversely Sixers have a good year and lose 23rd pick to nets. LAC pick is slightly better than Boston forcing them to swap but no one makes out like bandits. But if Boston picks 5th and LAC pick is worse, for example, 6th Boston doesn't have to swap gets both and Sixers get nothing.
010
Ben_Mulligan @common-nocturne.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
It's a weird situation that mostly bad for the sixers. Draft wise we would want sixers and LAC pick to be lottery, so sixers don't send top 8 protected pick to Nets and Boston has to swap. But that also means that Boston gets the best pick and Sixers had an awful year.
