I’ve often thought that some of the Nine Inch Nails stuff is very SID chippy. Never gave it much more thought, but I have seen this from a Trent Reznor interview today. Influential, at least! ❤️

The loading times don’t annoy me like they used to decades ago. In a world that’s too fast, it’s nice to find yourself suddenly sitting and waiting for something that’s worth it.

I’m really sad to hear that the former games journalist, Tim Smith, recently died. If you bought games mags in the 80s and 90s, you certainly read his exceptional work. Later in life he moved to York and opened a bakery, named after his late daughter. timwrite.net

The 8bit and 16bit waters were relatively safe and calm for years. Now it seems like the sharks are back, and hungrier than ever. If you own IP or have made your own game, for the love of God please do your due diligence. Or find a safe place to land like Thalamus.

Also, as we’re on the topic of this game…surely I’m not the only one to have noticed the Winter Camp and Rick Dangerous nods? Very cool. More of this sort of thing in our games I say.

I bought Thin Ice from Thalamus last night. Super fun action puzzler sort of thing. I would recommend it and it makes me think about doing CF reviews on the site again 🤔 That’s it, that’s the post. It’s a cool game .

🥔 A first encounter with Wild West Seymour tonight. A Speccy convo, but playable enough and packed with very meta charm (on level 1, you’re at the Codemasters office). If you wanna tackle it CF style, the full solution and maps are in issues 32 and 33 (May/June ‘93).

Was over at my best friend's house - he got the 'playful intelligence' pack, which included a cartridge with Flimbos quest, Klax, Fiendish Freddy, and International Soccer. Played it for hours, and I was amazed at the music and the graphics. It was magical. I wanted one instantly!

My older brother bought one second- possibly third-hand around 1986. The first game I played was Terra Cresta, a fantastic arcade game, O thought. The in-game music, title music and loading music blew my mind. Somewhat the worse for wear, it's still going.
An old Commodore 64 with fudge coloured function keys and an ugly key stem brutally cut into the top of the case, functioning as a reset switch.

Tomorrow’s my birthday, which means it’s 36 years since I was given my own Commodore 64. We were pretty skint but my Dad found the money for that somehow (£159.99 World Cup pack in 1990!). And here I am nearly four decades later, still messing about on this sensational computer. Thanks, Dad.

A lot of what Commodore say here confirms what I think the larger problem with this direction is: Christian is trying to piggyback his own thing about digital detox etc etc on the Commodore brand. It is not the right vehicle. I have no beef with the guy and want C= to succeed but this ain’t it.
