Goddammit Wikipedia, why did the example for the chart had to look like that

A chart stolen from Wikimedia, showing different types of high-altitude electric discharges, with red sprites being the highest and looking, for some reason, like some sort of Hell portal with red tendrils sticking out of it downwards.

Crimson Stars: Chains of Command, Chapter 5, page 36 End of Chapter 5! #art #comics #webcomic #crimsonstars #scifi #vampires

A five-panel comic page, depicting Lt. Laska discovering two dead bodies stuffed into a crevice, bodies with unmistakeable signs of vampire bites. As he informs Lt. Janssens of his discovery, the soldier behind him vanishes, and the last panel is just a splash of blood onto a rock.

Apparently, there's a meme going around on bluesky, demanding to post vampires that aren't Dracula. So I'm using it as an excuse to post Susie again: #vampire #art #crimsonstars

Character drawing of a relatively tall Greek woman in Three Stars Alliance Navy uniform, holding a glass of red liquid in her hand.

30. Homage My last contribution is an homage to the one and only @pushfreight.bsky.social and battlecones. Not sure if it's even a Crimson Stars design, but maybe I can think of where to put it. It's essentially an oversized reactor and four heavy lasers. #spaceshiptember #SST #SST26 #3d #blender

Not sure why I even rendered this one in b/w. Oh well!

Front view of the spacecraft, with its four main (and possibly only) weapons clearly visible.

A 3/4 view of a small spacecraft, shaped somewhat like a blocky cone on a stick, with a spherical reactor module further down the stick and the engine block at the end.

27. Guns! An older model of an Alliance cruiser that I spruced up a bit. It goes all in on kinetic weapons: two turret-mounted twin heavy naval railguns on the ring, three light ones on the main hull, 17 point defense turrets, the works. #spaceshiptember #SST #SST26 #crimsonstars #3d #blender

Side view of a spaceship with a spearhead-shaped bulbous main module connected to the rotating ring and the engine via a thin central shaft. The ring hosts two turrets with twin rectangular cannons on its opposite sides. The main module is studded with lesser turrets.

Same ship, view from the front, with the superstructure jutting out of the main module visible. A closed aperture of a torpedo launcher can be seen in the center.

Same ship, view from below, showing the docking hangar doors at the 'bottom' side of the main module.

25. Missiles! The LRM-SP-11 is the Alliance's newest shield penetrator missile. This expensive warhead can generate its own power field, thus disrupting the target's defenses for a moment, enough to release submunitions into the breach. #spaceshiptember #SST #SST26 #crimsonstars #3d #blender

A missile streaking through the starry void of space, exhaust blazing yellow-white, the ridges along its nose cone glowing an ominous shade of purple.

Crimson Stars: Chains of Command, Chapter 5, page 35 Spaceshiptember will continue, at least in part, until the end of the month, but I had to give up on doing every theme, lest I burn out completely. #art #comics #webcomic #crimsonstars #scifi #vampires

A five-panel comic page, depicting LT Laska's fireteam approaching a stone chaos, with some slabs forming a cave of sorts. Laska orders one of his men to cover their approach from the top of a rock nearby, attaches an under-slung flashlight to his gauss rifle and steps inside. An unpleasant-looking nest of some sort, attached with thick ropes of mucus, greets him from under the stone ceiling.

22. Huge The 'Amaranth' is a jump-capable space habitat almost a millennium old. Millions of people, including some of the Alliance's best scientists, live onboard. Security is tight, and residence permits are issued very sparsely. #spaceshiptember #SST #SST26 #crimsonstars #3d #blender

3/4 view of an enormous O'Neil Cylinder from a distance, its external surface a patchwork of shapes, almost like a city on its own. A circular entrance shaft can be seen at the "forward" end of the cylinder, surrounded by what can be interpreted as taller buildings protruding into space.

Closer shot of the "forward" end of the cylinder. The concentric rings of the forwardside city are clearly visible, as is the huge aperture of the hangar/shipyard/docking bay entrance.

View of the cylinder from the side, with the dish of the main engine's reflector visible at the rear, surrounded by what looks like enormous fuel tanks.

21. Organic Despite looking like it, this is not a flowerpot stuck in an asteroid. The Ancients tried to grow Dyson trees, and some results still survive. Atmosphere in the "garden" is retained by a field projected from the rim of the pot. #spaceshiptember #SST #SST26 #crimsonstars #3d #blender

A low-poly, sharp-contrast render of a potato-shaped asteroid with dome-shaped reactor assembly and main engine nozzle protruding from one end, and a cylindrical "pot" that has an enormous tree growing out of it on the other.

View from a different angle, with the "garden" inside the walls of the "pot" visible. A blue lake glistens along part of the rim. A raised highway can be seen leading from the trunk of the tree to the wall of the enclosure.

19. Armored The Linebreaker is the League's assault ship, designed to quickly close with the enemy, protected by its armored shell, and then let loose with short-range plasma cannons and missiles when it's passing through their formation. #spaceshiptember #SST #SST26 #crimsonstars #3d #blender

Side view of a bizarre spacecraft, its front a mushroom or jellyfish-like armored shell connected to the much smaller cylindrical hull studded with weapons.

Closer view of the same spacecraft, with metal cables connecting the shell and the main body visible, as well as the retro thrusters and the snout of the vessel's main engine on the opposite ends of the cylinder.

View of the armored shell from the front: a dome of grey material, covered with a grid of square-ish plates.

View from the other side, which we can only assume is the rear. Railgun turrets and plasma cannon mounts can be seen along the cylinder. Smaller point defense guns stud the open rear contour of the shell.

17. Variant The Stiletto is an up-gunned version of the Dagger: small craft hangar replaced with a particle cannon, number of gun blisters increased, casemate turret attached. The already overtaxed reactor did not appreciate this development. #spaceshiptember #SST #SST26 #crimsonstars #3d #blender

The previously-seen Dagger frigate, rebuilt for front-line warfare. A weird casemate turret with twin-linked heavy cannons was added on top of the superstructure, more gun blisters can be seen on the wheel-like structure at the rear.

Same ship from the front, the barrels of its many weapons ominously glistening red. The small craft hangar at the bottom front has been replaced with an axial particle cannon of some sort.

Picture of a small, somwhat dagger-shaped relic craft covered in shiny green armour plating.

15. Luxurious This unimaginative design, an unholy offspring of a vibrator, a submarine and a Cadillac automobile, is the 'Dura Navis', a relic space yacht belonging to the Margrave of planet Xanadu, a neutral porto franco of sorts. #SST #spaceshiptember #SST26 #crimsonstars #3d #blender

A silvery but unfortunately-shaped spacecraft as seen from the side. Stubby wings, a keel and something resembling a superstructure on top make it look somewhat like a modern submarine.

Same spaceship seen from below, with its keel and small craft hangar visible.

3/4 view of the same spaceship from the rear, showing the ovoid photon drive funnel.

Front view of a relatively small customs spaceship, with two small gigs attached to the front module and a spinning midsection that has the living quarters on one end and a spherical sensor array module on the other. The hull widens toward the rear to form a bell-like engine assembly.

Side view of the same craft, rotating section in another position, with the engine and reactor assembly in the rear more visible.

Top-down view of the same spaceship, showing overall shape and a small railgun turret on top of the frontal command section's hull.

3/4 shot of a long staple-shaped craft with four engines in rotating nacelles near the cockpit and in the rear.

Not exactly slender, but it's thin! Just not from the side... #spaceshiptember #SST #SST26 #crimsonstars #3d #blender

Frontal shot of a thin starship in white and gold, gun ports closed.

A five-panel comic page depicting LT Janssens and his men wandering around in an alien swamp, feeling the sweltering heat of the sun despite the atmosphere being too thick to even see the sun. One of the soldiers steps on what looks like a log, but proves to be some sort of creature, which flees along the water immediately.

High speed, low life expectancy. Lots of unflattering nicknames. #spaceshiptember #SST #SST26 #3d #blender #crimsonstars

Side view of a coffin-like landing craft, its stubby wings deployed. A crew compartment for two pilots, one sitting above and behind the other in separate cockpits, can be seen at the front, engine nozzles at the rear.

Somewhat different view of the Canid diving somewhere down and to the left.

View of a diving Canid from below, with the ramp, searchlights, landing gear and other details on the bottom of the hull visible.

A side view of an ominous cruiser, its hull glistening a metallic red, large turrets with particle beam cannons sticking out of three rotating gray armoured drums that connect the different hull sections together. Stubby wings and a conning tower of sorts protrude from the rear half of the ship.

Upper-frontal view of the same ship, with the backdrop full of stars.

7. Mining It took way too long to make it relative to how plain it looks. A crew of three is packed into a tiny command section, but it has it all: lasers to cut rocks, harpoons to tow them, manipulators to pick them up. No FTL drive though. #SST #spaceshiptember #SST26 #crimsonstars #3d #blender

A three-quarters view of a cylindrical mining vessel, with three abstract human figures for scale. The cockpit is ringed with four lasers, there is a hatch at the bottom of the next section, and long rails going along the whole rear section with harpoon guns mounted on the top two, and jointed mechanical arms at the bottom two.

Three-quarters view of the ship from the rear, with the main nozzle and its four auxiliary counterparts around it being visible. Two large fuel tanks are attached on top, landing gear protrudes out of the sides at the front and the bottom at the back.

6. Curves The ASV Vigilante, a Command and Control Ship of the Alliance's expeditionary forces, was rebuilt from a damaged relic cruiser, as evident from its elegant outlines and a horizontal layout, which requires advanced artificial gravity. #spaceshiptember #SST #SST26 #3d #blender #crimsonstars

A 3d render of a space opera -esque spaceship, its design evoking long predatory fish or a particularly elegant ivory column. The ship appears bisected by a trench around the middle, with two superstructures close to its rear: an island deck on the top half and a keel-like protrusion on the bottom.
