Rest in peace to Dan Simmons, a world-class novelist in so many different genres. HYPERION is spectacular but THE TERROR has my heart, one of my favorite horror novels of all time and a true masterpiece.

What a show. I think I lost a couple kilos just from crying.

Had to acknowledge big blue a little bit in my graduation… tastefully, of course.

Ozzy Osbourne. Where do you even start? The prince of darkness. The reason all us metalheads are the way we are. A legend in every sense of the word, someone blessed with the uncanny ability to make you feel seen - told us that life is crazy, but that’s okay. Rest in peace.

Looking for people to interview on MOUTHWASHING and it’s fanbase, or horror gaming fandoms in general - let me know if interested!

Spent a lovely afternoon in the summer breeze rereading my favorite BATMAN comic, THE BLACK MIRROR. Snyder, Jock and Francaville; one hell of a dream team.

This was one of the most difficult things I’ve done all week, and I’m sure I will change my mind a dozen times after this…

Peter David was one of the titans of comics. Smart as a whip and phenomenally talented, he gave the world so many exceptional books that helped shaped my youth and so many others. I’ll never forget reading a book of his for the first time. We’ve lost one of the greats today.

ANDOR started the same week as I began my undergraduate degree, which I finished the same week the show ended. Something poetic to that methinks.

Jared Bird @comicsjared.bsky.social · 14/05/2025

Stone and sky. Goodbye ANDOR. A once in a generation accomplishment; a true work of art in every sense and the show that has inspired me creatively the most. We will never see something like this again.

As of today, I’m officially finished writing my undergraduate dissertation, exploring masculinity in CRIMINAL. It’s been an incredible experience, and I still cannot believe I got to do it, let alone get to interview Ed Brubaker for it. I love the world of comics, so so much.

Spent my afternoon curled up in bed reading the lovely FISHFLIES by Jeff Lemire. One of his most quietly heartbreaking comics, with some of his best artwork, I loved every page. The giant hardcover was more than worth the money, it shines in the large format.

Spent a lovely afternoon today checking out THE SHARK IS BROKEN at Theatre Royal, Brighton. It was excellent; funny, profound and enjoyable from start to finish. Shaw is the spitting image of his father, and all 3 leads did exceptional work.
