Will ALL of these books be available thru kickstarter, including Hyou Hyou and Basement Attic? That's like 12 books!!

I like how warped his pages look in the previews of this book, and the colors. The lack of faces for the characters somehow works, too. It just looks so... natural for him? Very cool stuff. I'm liking the charm/look of the rest of his books so far from my online research.

I'd heard from the Grapevine that chester said there's a collected edition from D&Q that'll be coming. But Chester historically reworks things for collected editions. So it'll be awhile.

I don't think manga is superior, was just comparing the differences, there definitely are differences! I read comics from anywhere I can get my hands on, really... comics are comics to me. I love it all.

It's not directed at you.. aside from me preferring your colors over black and white, but all of it is great. Sorry, I have to think i'm actually talking to the author directly about it. The manga stuff in particular is just my thoughts on the differences between manga and western comics.

comicsenthusiast @comicsenthusiast.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

000

comicsenthusiast @comicsenthusiast.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

I get you, you just want to make a longform black and white comic. I think that could work very well for you. Although I prefer your color work (because it's so amazing), i'd be interested to see what you could do.

I love manga, for reference, I generally love the experimental shit in american alternative comics, but manga creators, they know how to make paint drying interesting. They know how to spin a good yarn.

000

comicsenthusiast @comicsenthusiast.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Of course ,we only get less than 5% of manga in english, and there is challenging manga we have in english like Yuichi Yokoyama, Yoshiharu Tsuge, some Glacier Bay stuff, etc.

210

comicsenthusiast @comicsenthusiast.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

I guess what i'm saying is, even the experimental stuff in manga is made very readable compared to some of the experimental stuff in western comics. I don't like to completely generalize, but I read very widely and it feels like western stuff is way more challenging and experimental.

110

comicsenthusiast @comicsenthusiast.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

I didn't mean western comics are lacking in any way, just comparing the differences. In general, even in alternative or indie comics I find them harder to read than manga. The pages are more dense, some people fill up the pages, though I prefer a less is more type deal, like your stuff.
