First time in a long time I saw all Best Picture Nominees. My rankings. Generally thought it was a good slate of films.

With Vertigo having its first brand new series in ages coming out this week what are your Top Five Favorite Vertigo books? I think mine would be: 1. Hellblazer 2. Scalped 3. Preacher 4. Transmetropolitan 5. American Carnage #comics #vertigo #dc #comicbooks

From Uncanny X-Men #23 My favorite new issue of the week currently is Uncanny X-Men #23. Adored the structure and the use of the story within a story including design. Plus a Rawhide Kid sighting? Crazy talk. Also Hotoru never change. Always adds the right pinch of a dark dry humor. #comicbooks

From Batman #6 Don't think we talk enough about how great Jorge Jiménez has been on the Batman title for a few years now. Writers have changed but he has remained a constant. Glad he is getting a story now that can live up to his talents. #comics #comicbooks

Good News is easily my favorite hidden gem of 2025. It’s like Argo by way of Doctor Strange Love #LastFourWatched

Good thing about waiting this late to catch up on movies from last year is you get to see so many good movies in a row. It Was Just An Accident was just as impactful as I hoped #lastfourwatched

Still don’t some more 2025 Catch Up. The Baltimorons has to be my pick for best Romantic Comedy of 2025 that I have seen so far. #lastfourwatched #movies

Watching Hedda and If I Had Legs I’d Kick You back to back was not the wisest choice. Good movies but that amount of intensity does not place you in the greatest head space #lastfourwatched #movies

From Spider-Man: Holiday Spectacular #1 Get Rainbow Rowell on Spider-Man because this was great. It was basically Spider-Man going around the Marvel universe to find out how much he is loved. W: Rainbow Rowell / A: Bob Quinn / C: Matt Milla / L: Joe Sabino

My Last Four Watched. Still catching up on some 2025 films

So I have finally done it. Trying to scratch this off my list of shame and starting reading Once Piece. Alway read through the first four volumes. This may be a Hot Take but I think this one has some staying power. One a side note the Shonen Jump app remains the best deal in comics

Had a good time watching movies in 2025.

Still a lot of movies to catch up with but my favorite films of the year thus far

000

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 23/12/2025

Watched 13 Cary Grant movies this year. This is how I ranked them. (Based on the overall movie not necessarily his performance) And yea he is the greatest movie star of all time.

We aren’t talking nearly enough about James Robinson amazing year in comics. He’s already a legend yet still growing as a writer giving us a number of great series that are doing widely different things. Some people are simply born to tell stories and that is clearly the case with him.

My ranking of all the 2025 Films I have seen so far

000

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1205 - 1206 - Hellblazer #175 - Mike Carey starts his run and brings in the reliable Steve Dillon. This felt like things getting back to normal a bit and Dillion's art was no doubt a reason for that.

000

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1201 - 1204 - Hellblazer #170 - 174 - Brian Azzarello ends his run on Hellblazer and was mixed with this storyline. Some odd choices that felt like the unnecessarily hard-edged comics we got at this time, like a female cop who fit more in an adult film than an actual story.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1197 - 1200 - V for Vendetta #1 - 4 - Scratching this off my list of shame and it's just as good as I have heard. A true work from masters of the genre. Crazy how much more relevant this has gotten over the years. Its message has only strengthened since its original release.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1194 - Sakamoto Days Vol 14, 15, and 16 - Remains one of my favorite Manga series and this round had some of the best scenes thus far. Sniper battles, characters that can control metal, and never loses its sense of humor.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1190 - 1193 - Criminal Vol. 4: Bad Night - Another favorite going back to and with the TV show coming out felts like the right time to go back to this. So good. As good as ever.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1184 - 1189 - Deadly Class Vol. 1: Reagan Youth - One thing I wanted to do this year is reread some personally favorites so going back to this series and it's better than I remember. You can tell this creative team worked so hard to develop a distinct visual language.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1183 - The Night Eaters Vol. 3 - An excellent conclusion to this series. Sana Takeda's imaginative storytelling is impressive as ever within this story of the world ending and the family dynamic that has been the core of this narrative since the beginning.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1182 - Beat It, Rufus - Always happy to read more Noah Van Sciver here telling a story that sometimes the deadbeat aging rocker who never made it big is not in need of redemption. Sometimes people get the fate they deserve.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1181 - Backflash - Two underrated creators in Mat Johnson and Steve Lieber come together to tell a story about a rather unique form a time travel through the power of nostalgia. As the humor that Lieber is so good at, but also a meaty story with full of generational family drama

1152

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1180 - Love Languages - Becoming a big James Albon fan. This followed two foreigners living in France who find connection through being outsiders despite not really speaking the same language. Clever lettering to show the power of language but also home some connections go well beyond words.

110

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1179 - Momo Vol 1 - I liked this. The genre mix of crime and horror tends to work for me, and that's the case here. Would love it though if we could move away from the trope of Immortal Vampire that looks like a Young Girl, especially with some overtly suggestive scenes.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1178 - Dopeman Vol 1 - Intriguing idea, but this lacks a lot of focus both in narrative structure and within the art. Some storytelling problems at the start, but it does come together much better as this volume concludes. Enough that I'll return for the next volume.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1177 - Deadrock Vol 1 - Thought this was pretty generic top to bottom. Things just tend to happen, and I struggled to find anything intriguing about this concept or these characters. Didn't find much in this first volume.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1176 - To Broadway - A young German dancer tries to make a career and life for himself after WWII. Compelling and vibrant, as Maurane Mazars captures movement with such grace. Also shows the challenges of a Young Gay man living in a world that won't accept him.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

1175 of 500 - GAEA-TIMA the Gigantis Vol 1 - Is there room for ANOTHER Kaiju story? Perhaps there's enough here in this first volume that it doesn't feel like more of the same when it comes to this genre. Art is solid, even if the Kaiju designs are a little bland. #My500ComicGoal

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 26/06/2025

1174 - Runaways #1 - So happy to see Rainbow Rowell return to Runaways. Enjoyed this a good deal and hope this lasts beyond One World Under Doom.

010

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 26/06/2025

1173 - Robin & Batman: Jason Todd #1 - Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen make a great team and even though not a Jason Todd fan this worked for me.

110

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 26/06/2025

1172 - The New Avengers #1 - Wasn't sure about this but generally enjoyed this first issue. Sticking with this for now.

110

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 26/06/2025

1171 - Death of the Silver Surfer #1 - Sumit Kumar's coming out party with this issue in how good this looked. Story has some promising elements, curious to see where this goes.

120

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 26/06/2025

1170 - Batman: Dark Patterns #7 - A new arc and this remains the best Bat book on the shelves right now.

132

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 26/06/2025

1169 - One World Under Doom #5 - Easily the best Marvel Event in quite some time. Ryan North can write a great Doom. Also, have to call out the colors by David Curiel. These last two issues relied so heavily on his work.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 26/06/2025

1168 - Action Comics #1087 - If Mark Waid was ever born to tell another Superman story this is it. Good first issue here and looking forward to more Superboy stories.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 26/06/2025

1167 - Absolute Batman #9 - This did exactly what it needed to do to make Bane into this 'abomination' of a villain. Great to have Nick Dragotta back because this series identity is tied so strongly to his style.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 26/06/2025

1166 - Jumpscare #4 - This issue got me back on board. Cullen Bunn is having quite the year, and the Danny Luckert art has been stellar as well. #My500ComicGoal

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 25/06/2025

1165 - Red Hulk #5 - I really hope this series continues because it has been one of Marvel's best comics of the year thus far.

000

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 25/06/2025

1164 - Birds of Prey #22 - Still big fan of this arc. Extra points for making Inque a big player in this issue. Creative use of her and her powers.

110

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 25/06/2025

1163 - As a major fan of Marvel Cosmic have high hopes for this series and overall rather enjoyed issue one. Good collection of characters for this and a promising concept.

100

Dan (Comic Concierge) @comicconcierge.bsky.social · 25/06/2025

1162 - The Amazing Spider-Man #5 - Story is fine, but I am here for the Pepe Larraz art. Seriously doing some amazing things especially in his use of perspectives and creative angles.
