- Is there anything that you feel shouldn't be included in autobio - what is the theoretical limit or ethical restriction of autobio? - What are your favourite autobio comics? Do you have any recommendations? Please RSVP in the comments if you can make it! 🐛💛

- Autobiographical works can be deeply personal. Expressing this vulnerability through comics is often daunting. How do you deal with this? Do you avoid introspection altogether, or change elements to give the story some distance to your real life?

- Do you find making autobio comics easier or harder than fiction/non-fiction comics? Why? - What do you think autobio comics can do or explore that other genres of comics can’t?

This month we will be revisiting the topic: ⭐ AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL COMICS ⭐ Here are the questions: - Do you regularly make/have you ever made autobio comics? If you have, do you tend towards comedic, sad, introspective, poetic or anything else?

Hello! The next Cocoon meeting is Saturday the 26th of October at Kafe Kweer in Edinburgh, 11am-1pm! As always, we're getting the space for free so if you're able to buy a wee coffee or a snack to support our hosts that'd be amazing! ☕🥐 Our discussion topic for this month is: ✨ Health✨

"I will only be able to attend once or twice and won't be able to come regularly. Can I still come along?" Of course! If you're in town, do feel free to come to one of our sessions, but please give us a heads up by replying to our discussion questions so we can gauge numbers.

"I’ve never drawn a comic before but I’m interested in learning how. Am I right for this group?" Comic Cocoon is not a workshop. If you are just starting out in comics, you are welcome to come along but we ask that you take a backseat in the discussion.

110

"I’m not a comic artist, but I write/edit comics. Am I right for this group?" While our discussions might touch on all aspects of comic-making, we will be tailoring our questions specifically for people who draw and usually also write. As such, this group is unfortunately not right for you. Sorry!

100

Each session covers a different discussion topic related to drawing and creating comics, with the questions released beforehand so you can think of your answers in advance. We meet in-person on the last Saturday of every month.

A quick intro thread! What is Comic Cocoon? Comic Cocoon is an Edinburgh-based monthly discussion group for comic artists to socialise with each other and discuss different aspects of drawing comics. The group is run by @elljwalker.bsky.social and @evegwood.com.
