Loved seeing the extended DIG! XX documentary on the big screen at Edinburgh’s Cameo cinema tonight. An absolute classic/car crash of a documentary. Nice foreword by Dave Grohl and nice to round things off by bringing things up to date.

Touched down in Barcelona for a few days away with my wife at a 11am and picked up this nugget within the first couple of hours…not the sightseeing my wife was expecting! 😆

Simply one of the best live bands going…. @smellybdrmm.bsky.social at the Classic Grand. A sonic assault from start to finish, as their new electronic sound merged with epic guitars to deliver a fantastic set. A band that comes alive on stage and always delivers. Brilliant! 👏👏

A wee Motown 7 inch haul after a mooch around a couple of Edinburgh record stores today. 😀

A brilliant Saturday night gig watching Manchester’s Pastel. Mashing together all of the best sounds of the 90s to create a great sound, that landed so well with the crowd in Cabaret Voltaire. Excellent support from The Volts and an impressive young band called Borderline.

Another epic evening with @mogwai.scot as they closed their European tour at the Usher Hall tonight. Mixing songs from their brilliant new album, with their back catalogue, they once again delivered their signature wall of sound.

Is this the best Brian Jonestown Massacre album? It’s certainly one of my favourites.

#graphicallyyours #musicchallenges Every @dinosaurjr.com album cover is unique, utilising a range of different artists over the years. ‘Farm’ was released in 2009 with Marq Spusta producing this fantastic cover.

What a start to Friday morning! Tickets purchased for @dinosaurjr.com and @thepainsofbeing.bsky.social. With Mogwai, BJM, BDRMM, Pixies, Primal Scream and Oasis already in the bag, it’s shaping up to be a year of the classics 😀

First gig of the year and it was worth the solo trip into Edinburgh to catch Floating Heads at Bannermans Bar. A brilliant set of psych and shoegaze sounds, reminiscent of The Black Angels, Helicon etc. Check them out on streaming platforms…their new EP is fantastic.

Delighted to receive the limited edition Sonic Rising Records release of the extended version of Sunstinger’s ‘Beyond The Frame’ EP. A great companion to the original release and great to have a few extra songs from the Sunstinger back catalogue on vinyl…still copies available! 👌👌

Latest purchase…an absolutely fantastic 2023 release from Sweden’s Melody Fields. 1901 has a great mix of influences, from 60s psychedelia to 90s indie.

It’s fair to say that FuzzClub releases have had a lot of airplay this year…they really do have an excellent roster of bands, making brilliant music. Looking at this year’s purchases, 17 are from Fuzz Club, bringing the total number in my collection to 36. Check them out…👌

Campbell Blair @combo74.bsky.social · 10/12/2024

Loving these 2023 releases from Sweden’s Melody Fields…1901 is a Psych and Shoegaze heavy album, with great melodies; while 1991 has more of a dance edge, with a number of remixes. Love a new discovery.

The gig year came to a close tonight with the excellent DIIV at SWG3 in Glasgow. Heavier live than on record, they fired through a 90 mins set of songs from across their 4 albums. Really enjoyed their sound and a fitting end to what has been a brilliant year of live music.

Always love the Spotify wrap up…safe to say 2024 was the year of @sunstinger and their brilliant Worthless EP, with 4 of the 5 songs making my top 5 😀. I’ve no idea how She Bangs The Drums was number 1, as I don’t remember playing it and not enough to make it to the top

An enjoyable set from Australian band Royal Otis at @swg3glasgow.bsky.social tonight. By far the youngest (and tallest) audience I’ve seen in recent years…all loving the band. A very polished and energetic set, with a great sound.
