Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...

A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is.

Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.

Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.

an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. Sorry, I don't know star wars lol

Haven't read the entire volume yet but did look at DRCL vol 5 and that book seems to keep going for it and pushing it

I think that Joyce Carol Oates thing is more about the audience and what sections of it will accept.

020

Who knows maybe a volume 3 in the future

030

As a reminder I did do the first volume which can be found here or on the patreon bsky.app/profile/comb...

And the volume ends with them on the run which lets Foster finish on a bunch of incredible landscape stuff

150

And like any Arthurian story that goes on too long he eventually ends up in Rome

150

Another classic of the genre a giant appears in this volume

130

It is so funny how much at times Val comes across as exactly the kind of original character he is

120

Wouldn't you know it Val is a dumbass and the messenger he thought was a boy was actually a GIRL

130

They use that to name their band

000

Lot of scheming in this and turning of the tables

140

Why not have Val decide to single handedly to round up a posse to fight off a Mongol Invasion

240

Why not have Val face off with the literal personification of Time, the caption on the bottom panel here is so good

Why of course you make him restless at home and have him go explore the wider world

250

The question of this volume becomes when you have already knighted your OC what do you do next?

Always find the title of this piece of the biography funny

Do you think this is a case of nominative determinism

From what I can tell this feature is dreaming up a new Robot show out of fan desires

I am not first and will be far from the last to say this: I have purchased so many books because I saw them recommended or publicized here on bsky. I cannot urge you all enough to KEEP TALKING ABOUT BOOKS. I know it's easier to talk up someone else's book, but this also means you, the shy author.

Going through most of Gundam Solomon! I have returned! Is still one of the bits that stays front of mind
