Libertarians remind me of academic Marxists. Both have a theory of how their political system would work, but none can point to an example of that philosophy ever working in the real world. The Venn diagram of Libertarian experiments and expensive disasters is a circle.

Colorado changed it: we now honor Mother Cabrini, an Italian who did a lot of charity work in the state.

When the FBI searched Mar a Lago they were responding to an ongoing crime, and found the evidence that proved the crime. But we can no longer trust the DOJ to actually have evidence before investigating.

Never. He would have American soldiers help Russian soldiers kill American citizens before he would cross Putin.

Well, the other reason is in line with Bush W's attack on Iraq after we were attacked by Saudis: When terrorists attack the US, Republicans ALWAYS respond in the way the terrorists want us to. He wanted to go out in a blaze of glory for attacking American soldiers. Hegseth is giving him his wish.

Nope. Not scared. My Democratic congressman has a plan. Even if your representative or senator doesn’t have a plan, vote for them so that the ones who do have a plan have the majority they need to carry it out.

...and unregulated monopolies and corporate mergers to ensure that rent-seekers are better paid than people who create things and work for a living. Liberalism and socialism are attractive because under-regulated capitalism is really, really expensive.

Certainly. And I hope you'll consider voting for the party that will be better for minorities, women, and LGBTQ. Your voice matters.

Refusing to vote for the person who might give Democrats the majority in the house, or in the senate; regardless of whether their personal views match every box you want checked, takes the power from the GOOD Democrats in other districts. And gives us more Kavanaughs and Gorsuches. Yay. Winning?

You think Harris would have nominated a racist anti-trans bigot like Hegseth to run the Department of a Defense? You know that both she and Trump have long records of how they approached public service, don’t you?

Rodney Sauer @colorodney.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Bullshit. Absolute bullshit. Harris would not have put in a Secretary of Defense who expelled trans soldiers. Trans soldiers suffered for it. She would have not put in unqualified racists in every single cabinet position. You have no credibility on this issue.

Whatever. Democrats in office are better than Republicans in office, even if some of the Democrats don't check every last one of your boxes. 400,000 dead Africans (and counting) would agree with me if they were alive.

This is not chips. These are basic human rights you are giving up on. It's easy for those with privilege like me to say "I'll let the Republicans run things until the Democrats learn their lesson," but the ones who suffer are minorities, women, and children. I cannot join you in your nihilism.

When you stop voting is when they stop listening to you entirely. As they should. Get the best candidate you can in the primaries. Then vote Blue in the general. Even if your candidate doesn't tick every box, they create the majority that will let better Democrats pass laws and block conservatives.

What the hell are you even talking about? There isn't a Democratic platform yet, and the Republicans haven't had one for six years. If you think Democratic "fascism" is as bad as Republican fascism, "fix yourself" indeed. Learn how American government works. And vote for the anti-fascist party.

You don’t know me, yet you attack me because I assert that Democratic majorities are better for trans people than Republican majorities. I work with trans peopl4. don’t need your hateful anti-trans gibberish. Goodbye.

You’re not voting just for a candidate. You’re voting for a majority in a senate or House of Representatives, which means everything—judges, legislation, investigations, impeachment. Your vote is your voice. You won’t help LGBTQ rights by using your silence to support the Republican Party.

Yep. If you point out that conductors get paid more than violinists, they'd answer "Then everyone should be a conductor!" Republicans have been corrupt for so long that they don't even know how free-market capitalism is SUPPOSED to work.

Follow your state news. In blue states, there’s quite a lot being done. At the federal level, there’s very little Democrats can do in the minority. Vote Republicans out of power. It’s the only thing that matters.

Yeah, that's not how global commodity markets work. It's not surprising that Republican lawmakers don't know the details of economics, geopolitics, medicine, or science. What is astounding is that they seem to have no experts that they can consult with to learn what they need to know.

Try voting for a candidate who can win. If you are fine under total Republican control, then you’re good. Don’t vote.

Why would politicians care about people who don’t vote? You are showing your weakness, and an utter lack of commitment to democracy.

Do you mean Republicans? Then don’t vote for them. Do you mean Democrats? They’ve been pushing as hard as they can in the minority, which is “not much.” They’ve also been pushing hard in the states where they govern. Want them to push back? Vote them into the majority and then you can judge.

Or just that the point you're making is valid, but less important to me than my counterpoint. "I also love painting cars purple, but this one isn't ours."

No one is asking you to throw yourself under the bus. They’re asking you to elect a majority to Congress from the only party that will block Trump and his appointees from abusing all of us, especially marginalized people. Has total Republican control worked that well for you?

Americans put Republicans in power in the house and senate, so there’s very little that Democrats can do there (though they and Massie are doing an amazing job with the small leverage they have). Democratic governors and AGs are doing very good work in the states & the courts. Vote. It matters.

Lawmakers can only do that by diluting the members of the supreme court who believe that the president (if Republican) is king. And for that, they need a majority in both houses.

Rodney Sauer @colorodney.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Can't imagine that, because I don't know anyone like that. But imagine thinking that voting for Democrats doesn't matter because you don't understand that all congressional power goes to the party with the most seats, even if some of those seats unfortunately have unsavory characters in them.

You mean Trump doing everything that Netanyahu asks of him? Up to and including attacking Iran? Biden didn't do that, and Harris wouldn't have. It's why Netanyahu overwhelmingly supports Republicans.

I haven't seen one. More importantly, in my district, every Democrat is better than every Republican, since any Republican will support Trump. So I don't need to think too hard about it.

Yes. Impeachment is the only remedy that the Republican supreme court has left us. And that requires a two-thirds majority of American patriots in the senate. I cannot name one Republican senator who places America's well-being ahead of Trump's. And we can't count on Fetterman either. Vote.

Remarkable show of white male privilege there. Republicans approve Trump justices. Republicans block investigation of Republicans’ corruption. Republicans fund ICE. Think of those who will die on the streets of America if Republicans keep their trifecta.

in Trump 1.0 the Supreme Court decided that, sure the emoluments clause exists, but nobody has standing to sue over violations. So it’s unenforceable. The court has gotten even more “conservative” since then.

You did. In your post, as many people read it. No candidate is going to agree with everyone on every issue, so accept that. My legislator supports trans rights. But he can do nothing without a majority. That requires other people to vote D as well, even if their candidate is flawed on trans issues.
