When did that happen

Ok, maybe "significant" is a stretch (it was 13% among all Israelis tho)

Except the significant minority who don't support it

With insights like that I'm surprised that you had such trouble with reading comprehension

Yes, the state is currently committing mass murder. To me that doesn't justify the displacement of uninvolved people who just live there. Not sure what your point about immigrants has to do with anything. Do you think immigrants to the US are especially culpable for the genocide of the Cherokee?

rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Fair enough, that's consistent. I'd say that since both countries are established now, and the current occupants aren't responsible for conquering the land, paying for one injustice with another doesn't make much sense

Who mentioned anything about "just"? The OP said the attacks were in the illegal settlements, and they weren't In any case, despite being backed by that same military, the settlements *are* illegal. So maybe there are other reasons beyond the cudgel that Israel as a state is not

Is there a particular reason that one of these genocidal, colonial projects should be dismantled and the other not?

rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Are dryers even more prevalent in the US? They're everywhere in the Netherlands
110
rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
As is the United States. But objectively neither is illegal, so the guy was talking crap
210
rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
No it didn't. The attacks were entirely inside Israel, not in the illegally occupied territories

The post to which you're replying is saying that Hamas did that. Ironically, you seem to be unable to distinguish a description of their actions from a description of Israel's

You give it too much credit

The above poster's claim that "he was always a Republican" remains unproven. But the evidence strongly points against the Atlantic's rather more salient assertion that he supported the Dems in 2020
100
rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I suppose it's possible that he voted Dem in 2020, as the article claims, and then became convinced that the election was rigged against Trump and supported him overturning it purely for the sake of democracy. But that seems less likely than that the Atlantic just didn't bother checking

rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
That it happened once out of 60 presidential elections would tend to align with odds in the order of 1 in 128, yeah
100
rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I've never heard of them but that figure in itself seems like a reason to view them with scepticism
200
rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Doesn't the complexity work both ways, though? The odds in one state are not independent of those in another. For example if methodological issues mean Trump is underpolling in one state, it's likely he's underpolling in others

rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
2^7 = 128
120
rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Why 2 trillion to 1? The odds of seven coin flips all being heads are 128 to 1, and if Trump was ahead in the popular vote his odds would be shorter still

Britain was a mistake

I thought that was maybe the best scene in the episode. Walt trying to present himself as a domineering psycho to get Skyler off the hook, while simultaneously venting a genuinely felt resentment, was one of the rare moments of real ambiguity in the show

rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
I think it worked until the very last episode when he suddenly manages to achieve everything he wanted. But Ozymandias is too climactic to serve as the ending, there has to be some comedown. Maybe end it after Granite State (which makes things even bleaker imo)

Next time I need to assess someone's character, I'll be sure to apply the most rigorous test of all: do they have any cousins who don't like them

So anyone who claims that, say, Donald Trump is a danger to the world is insincere unless they've attempted to kill him?
101
rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Yeah, if the argument is that this guy isn't sincere because if he was he'd be doing X, we really need X to be defined

But he told nothing but obvious lies about the tattoo
020
rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 02/08/2026
Problem is the lies about the tattoo were the most unconvincing lies possible. No living human actually believed that he only just found out what the tattoo represented. Anyone endorsing him after that just thought it wasn't such a big deal

That's true, although it's also the case that they're obviously not calling her racist, as she implies. Which is arguably the more substantive error

Why would the government be responsive to the people if they can't be voted out? Doesn't make much sense

It's safe to say that life for gay people in Hamas-controlled territory isn't exactly a barrel of laughs but this tossing them off roofs thing seems to be an internet hallucination

I was going to say that outsiders can't be expected to grasp the nuances of how all the English neo-Nazis hate this team but then I saw he's a Newcastle supporter 🤷‍♂️

Is it even worth noting here that Lieu definitely didn't say that the files "show" that Trump is a pedo

You think that's bad, Labour has been doing that with the Blair years for two decades

They're referring to delegates in the Electoral College who defy what their state voted for, which apparently last happened in 2016
010
rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 22/06/2026
In fairness, in the UK the voters only make their opinion known to the monarch, who then decides whether they give a shit
100
rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 19/06/2026
How would that have helped? Everyone hates W except for (a tiny subset of the) people who were already voting for Kamala

rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
Perhaps not. But then we have to conclude it isn't a defeat for the Pahlavis either
010
rullko @colinrullko.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
I guess they're a defeat for Americans who are neither monarchists nor fans of the current regime. Dunno if that's a significant constituency tho
