JJK 21 was a wild ride. And I didn't think it could get any more epic than 20! #jujutsukaisan #manga

If any company or nation calls this big, beautiful lake anything but Lake Ontario, the average American won't care but Canadians will never forget. #canadastrong

If Google or Apple changes the name of Lake Ontario on their maps products, whether viewed from either side of the border, Canadians like me will remember that forever.

Trump wants to be worshipped or hated. Just split the difference and ignore him.

I feel good reading and listening to the recent Canadian clap-backs, but the best response to Trump is indifference.

OMG. The 14 infants dying in a maternity ward fire in Pakistan is unbelievably tragic. My heart weeps for the parents, and what a loss. Those babies missed out on entire beautiful lives.

God help those affected by the Nepal-Tibet flash flood. That is the most horrifying natural disaster footage I have ever seen. My God!

I am so proud as a Canadian that we are standing firm against the US and their last-minute demands. We cannot accept either bad faith negotiating tactics or threats to our sovereignty, let alone both!

There is a real lack of appreciation for moral leadership. It's the "get your grift on" era. People don't equate financial success with value generation; instead, we assume there is a hidden scam.

As a Canadian, I am humbled, thankful, and grateful that wildfire fighters from Mexico and Costa Rica are joining the fight in Canada. Amazing allies!

Clearly LG thought they could bring their surveillance capitalism policies from their TVs to their monitors. It's bad on TVs, but it is completely unacceptable on computer monitors. People view far more intimate, sensitive, and private stuff on their computer monitors.

From Gizmodo: "LG's privacy policy that's linked to the LG Monitor App Installer's listing on the Microsoft Store mentions LG can track device usage data and online activity, including what sites you visit and what activities you perform on those sites." Shameful.

LG used Windows Update to push adware onto computers connected to LG monitors. Their privacy policy states LG can track device usage, online activity, sites visited, and actions taken on those sites. Unbelievably invasive.

Lost my Uncle Doug this week. He was quietly one of the most influential people in my life — passionate about photography, tech, climate, and big ideas long before they were mainstream. He taught me what it looks like to care deeply about things. I'll miss him enormously.

Surreal Rain 1. Colin Finkle, 2026 Digital drawing on tablet, pencil and charcoal tools. A red umbrella, floating, with a man revealed in the reflection of a puddle holding the red umbrella.
Charcoal-style illustration of a red umbrella floating alone in grey rain, with the reflection below showing an upside-down figure in a dark coat holding it, walking beneath the water's surface.

Revoking Claude's fable and mythos could be a heroic story of safety and sober governance, or the start of access control and the corruption that follows.

Wow, the US government blocks Anthropic from serving Claude Fable and Mythos to any non-Americans, including foreign nationals on US soil, which is why Anthropic did a worldwide block of the models.

Watching Scott Pelley's NYT interview on leaving 60 Minutes after 37 years is heartbreaking. Corruption in an institution hurts everyone — management and workers alike. No one isn't struggling with their role in this history. Some simply had more choice than others.

Colin Finkle @colinfinkle.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
I have a broad definition of corruption. Corruption is anything that displaces objective effectiveness from the highest value of a person, organization, or task. Money, ego, complacency, and outside influences are the most common reasons effectiveness takes a backseat.

Eric Schmidt presided over Google's shift from serving customers to generating ad impressions. Early Google benefitted from faith in tech built up by people like Steve Jobs. Now, graduates and the public are suspicious of technologists.

Colin Finkle @colinfinkle.bsky.social · 30/05/2026
The graduates Eric Schmidt was talking to have never known anything other than the dark patterns era of the tech industry where they are the product, don't own anything, are siloed and pitted against one another.

Early tech users paid for products, motivating companies to improve them or lose customers. Late tech users didn't pay, motivating companies to exploit data or lose users and advertisers to competitors.

I had a blast with Chainsaw Man. Both the first season and the Reze Arc. It's strangely one of the most true depictions of being a hormonal, love-starved teenage boy. My inner 16-year-old could relate.

Isn't a "stay in Canada" referendum question effectively a seperation question? Flipping the question just changes who votes "yes" and who votes "no". #alberta

Since when did the Disney+ app turn into hot garbage on my Samsung TV? It took me 8 minutes, 2 infinite loading screens, and 1 accidental jump into the National Geographic section just to get to Mail Shadow Lord. The app is so slow, it feels like my remote doesn't work.

Built from a black canvas up... white pencil and charcoal strokes in Infinite Painter. The prompt was Light and Dark, but somewhere along the way it became about duality. The bright mask we show the world, and the honest, imperfect side we keep in the dark. What do you see in it?
A high-contrast digital portrait rendered in black, white, and grey on a black canvas. A woman's face is turned slightly upward, with a dramatic diagonal shaft of bright white light cutting across the left side of her face and hair, leaving the right side receding into deep shadow. The light catches loose strands of hair and the edge of her cheek and collarbone, while her features — rendered in soft charcoal tones — emerge gradually from the darkness.

Surveillance pricing poses an interesting question: do consumers have the right to know what everyone else is paying? We take for granted the transparency of the sign saying Strawberries $3/lb. But with surveillance pricing, you could be getting charged the most and have no idea you are the sucker.

The war correspondent bribed and threatened to change his reporting by people trying to win a Polymarket bet is just the beginning. Betting is a corrupting influence on everything it touches. If there is money on the line, there is money and motivation to influence outcomes.

I can't believe the people at Grammarly would trade on the reputations of famous writers and journalists, and put words in their mouths. Tech companies feel entitled to everything. Give a thought to whether you would want your identity stolen before implementing that feature.

The public's opinion on anything is affected by the contrast with it's peers, which is another reason monopolies are so bad. There is no peer to compare against. If there was no Anthropic showing an ethical alternative, OpenAI would look normal and acceptable.
