I've found I can usually pretty successfully remove sticky labels with lighter fluid. Soak a cotton bud in the fluid. Rub it on the label then leave it for about a minute to soak. Then carefully peel it off with tweezers.

Morning everyone, some new additions to the collection. I was particularly pleased to get Ruts DC yesterday. It's not pricey but quite hard to find. Have a good Sunday. #WeekendSingles

Thanks. I've never heard of them. Will check them out.

I don't do Instagram but can see a photo with what looks like the collection.

Brilliant. I especially love that Selecter 'The Whispher / Train to Skaville'

Morning Olly, that Fly's is very collectable. I've got Flux. Frijid Pink is unknown to me.

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Great stuff. I can understand why you wanted that Kraftwerk sleeve. Very cool.

110

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Great stuff. What is the one with the green sleeve bottom row centre?

110

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Thanks. I didn't realise they did events as well. It's a real community asset.

010

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Yep it's a good one. I've not seen it before. The guy serving in the shop commented on it as well.

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Agree. I only get to visit when I go to SE London to see family. If I lived closer I would definitely visit more frequently. I was told they had just bought an excellent condition collection of 60's reggae singles. Which I would certainly be interested in seeing.

Thanks for the polling. Disappointingly, I failed to register my vote for this final poll☹️ Thanks for all the previous ones though. It made for tough choices but was fun.

Just out of curiosity I checked Discogs and an Aussie press of The Saints "(I'm) Stranded" single is on sale for over £1500 😱. Only 547 pressed.

They gave you sage advice. The video I watched was a real eye opener to me. It was wow I didn't even know this stuff existed.

030

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

I don't know of them. I was watching a YouTube video awhile back and a guy was showing loads of Australian punk singles from the late 70's.All extremely rare and worth a fortune. It was eye opening how many bands there were. I hardly knew any of them.

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

It's great. I've never seen it before. The shop owner commented on the sleeve.

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

I never knew it either. It's better than I expected. It's got a female vocalist and more melodic than I assumed it would be.

Morning everyone, four fairly recent finds. Including two from Revolution Records in Penge SE London on Friday. Which btw is very much worth a visit if you are ever in that area. Have a good Sunday everyone. #WeekendSingles

You will find lots of 45's and prices are quite reasonable.

A bit of trivia. A neighbour of mine was a roadie for GBH. He appears (sporting a mohican) on the video of them performing on the Tube playing on the rooftop. He told me that unsurprisingly Jools hated them.

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

Hope that you enjoy your stay. Vinyl Van is worth a visit. Also if you have time for a quick train ride to Weymouth Phil's Vinyl Vault is also worth your time. Doesn't stock many 45's though.

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Brilliant. Truly great finds.

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

I think most people who liked them back in the day will most likely still like them now.

011

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

It was near mint but I thought it was a bit steep myself.

010

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Nice. A few I don't know. 101ers for 50p is great value. I saw the original in a picture sleeve at the Record Fair last Sunday on sale for £150 if I recall correctly.

110

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Thanks Rich. Actually it's Desmond Baker not Dekker. I'd not heard of him before so I took a punt. No regrets either.

Good morning compadres, it's a bright early autumn Sunday here so a good time for some quick #WeekendSingles before I start the chores. This week it's four new finds from last Sunday's Frome Record fair. Have a good day everyone.

I liked and saw both live on numerous occasions. I also think TOH had the edge especially when Billy Duffy was in them.

I hope that you enjoy the book as much as I did. I found it very enjoyable and informative.

Morning Rich, hope that you find some good deals.

011

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

Thanks for all your hard work. It's been very enjoyable and you can retire with the knowledge that it brought a lot of pleasure to a lot of people.

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Thanks for all your hard work. Stone Roses winning comes as no surprise hence why I didn't vote for it.

010

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

I know how you feel I'm the same 😂 I did see a mention of Leeds on Discogs. But that was in reference to Icon.

020

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Thanks. It's really annoying when stuff goes missing. It's happened to me however in my case the only explanation I can think of is that someone might have "borrowed" them and never returned them.

020

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Brilliant recording of it. One of my favourite Clash videos.

010

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Very cool. Wasn't aware of their existence. I bought NME religiously every week for about 12 years. I must have stopped just before they started doing these.

010

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

I haven't listened to it. I'm surprised it's remotely melodic tbh. That's one of the reasons I decided on Wessex 82ep instead and the picture sleeve of course. I could probably still get Icon A.D next weekend but this record collecting is starting to cost me a fortune 😂

220

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Excellent! Thanks for that. They are surprisingly high energy considering their age.

010

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Agree 100%. The only two I recall seeing of late are Protex and Battle of the Bands. I didn't realise Protex were still going. I'm fairly sure I saw them supporting SLF back in the day.

Just checked Discogs and you are on the money Olly. They were originally called Icon and had a track on Crass Bullshit Detector compilation.

110

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Brilliant. Very envious of that collection. I could have picked up the reissue of Protex with the B&W sleeve yesterday. Rarely see the original that you've got.

110

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Cracking. As usual some new to me.

110

Cold War Kid @coldwarkid9.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

You've got some real rarities though Olly. There were quite a few that I saw yesterday I had never seen before. One I recall is Icon A.D. Have you come across a single by them before?
