Tokyo during summer is devoid of color. The haze really robs the saturation out of everything

Matteo @coldsteam.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Does anybody know why I can’t set up a subscription plan for clip studio on my IPad? It says to choose another payment method, it doesn’t accept any of my cards. I now live in Japan, is that why?

I can never find poster color workshops in Tokyo until it’s too late😭. Also why the really cool artists have always in a far away place like adachi😭😭 I wanna go so baddd

Been travelling, going to temples, studying… I’ve been neglecting drawing a bit.. Everyday I’m so busy that I don’t really have time to think. I’m having lots of fun but it’s kinda hard balancing everything.. I wish I could find more time for drawing!

Found a cute shrine in a park next to the city hall I went to register myself. Thinking of going there for plein air painting this weekend.

Are there any animation festival where to network, kinda like annecy, but in Japan?

000

Matteo @coldsteam.bsky.social · 04/06/2026

I kinda flopped when they asked me some grammar I rarely use. I just hope they won’t put me with ppl learning the alphabet 😭✋

Finding an apartment around Taito ku is an absolute nightmare 😭✋

Matteo @coldsteam.bsky.social · 21/05/2026

Sooo I’ve been slacking off on my Japanese for a few months since I was really busy with work and coincidentally now my language school will have me perform a level test and an interview in Japanese too😭✋ I’m not ready for this oh god

All my BGs are with my AD for correction, and my job as a bg painter is done✨✨🫰!! I’m helping out doing cell shading and it’s so low cortisol ☺️

Painting a bg I'm responsible for at work that I also drew. There're lots of roses, and I have to render all of them, so I started counting them out of curiousity. They're around 118💀...

I love May so much. You can hear the crickets all day long

To cooldown after work i usually doodle clouds. Stockpiled quite a few and wanted to use them in some illustrations but seem to never get the chance.

Does anyone know how can I view proper credits of anime staff? I loved the BGs on the 2nd ep of Yomi no tsugai, and wanted to look at the artists who did it, some sites say it was Kusanagi studio and others have names of people that have no art attached to them😔

Does anyone have any recommendations for manga shading brushes (crosshatching, noise and such) for clip studio?? They’re so hard to find

For the past 3 weeks I’ve been a layout artist for my studio. I do not understand how layout artists deal with the constant crazy shots that have to be drawn with accurate perspective everyday. I literally have an headache right now. I can’t wait to move to painting🫩

Soooo my cintiq stopped working…. Updated the drivers, changed ports, restarted the computer…did not work. Lost 3 hrs of my time, this is so stupid. I ordered a new usb c cable hoping it will fix things🫩.

Started my 3rd week of work, and for now I’m really liking the project. I’m struggling a bit with working from home and separating work from personal life, but I hope to learn soon how to handle that. For now I’m just really glad they’re liking everything I made, omg I was so scared

Matteo @coldsteam.bsky.social · 07/02/2026

Have you seen the Olympic’s grand opening?? I saw a post on insta and there was an ai generated animation… There were ppl defending ai as “art”, and I obviously went ahead and antagonised anyone saying that crap. Nothing’s changed🫩

I like to think that taking pics of clouds actually counts as practice. Just even taking a moment to see how they actually look like helps expand your visual library.

Doodled some clouds. Been messing around with some brushes and the mixer brush. I should start taking notes as to remember which brush to use next time

I forgot to say it here too, but I got my first gig as a vis dev artist for an indie animation studio!! It’s only for 1 month (more if i do good, manifesting 🤞) but I’m so grateful that I get to finally work on a position that I’ve been looking for 3 years. I’m sooo happy 😭!! Can’t wait to start
