Debating on dropping Bluesky because of the age verification requirement. It still works on my iPhone because iOS has an option to share my age range, but there’s no way I’m trusting any 3rd party with my identifying info. Still enjoy the platform tho

But overall think I’m satisfied with it, going to add props to the shelves and desk, like the portal companion cube, master chiefs helmet ect, might spend some time working on the materials to make them a bit less basic too

they are clearly the better engineers. It's just another reminder that the corporate world is a cold place, and even if you are talented, professional, kind and everything your employer could ask for, you can still be arbitrarily let go to meet quarterly targets. It makes me wonder -

My hands hurt from clenching so much lol, but think I have the finger rotations dialed in enough now. It's passable, but still very fiddly. Tomorrow we re-add the vr motion trackers and the other rig elements! Make sure everything plays nice with the hand drivers!

Next step is to dial in the settings, maybe retopologize the hand for smoother deformation, integrate these changes with my vr trackers for head and hand movement and we have a v1 of the avatar!

Got both hands working for my avatar! also added a whole bunch of controls in unity to make it easier to tweak and adjust how the hands deform based on the data coming from the xr gloves.

It'll limit the dynamic movement, but after playing with the gloves we don't have as much fidelity in the tracking as I was hoping, and make each individual pose a lot cleaner.

Debating if I need to add another mode to the hand driver, instead of reading the vmc glove poses and apply them to the hand maybe have some predefined poses and read extremes from the gloves to trigger them. So instead of having real hand tracking just have the pose snap from pose to pose.

Refining the hand movement for my avatar in unity, able to get most of the fingers working (at least a passable attempt) the thumb is still a bit funky tho. We'll get there.

Good news! I'm able to get my xrglove data into unity, and can apply the rotation data to the fingers. bad news is that it's not playing nice with my rig, and it's very jittery. might have to re-rig my hand, or at the very least reorient the bones

Tomorrow I'm going to fine tune the tracker ik for my avatar, try out the audio animation to drive my jaw/facial movements, and see how that looks! After that, get some nice eye movement going, maybe some blinks, get basic finger tracking back, and think we'll really be cooking!

Finally got my vive ultimate trackers working!! Wrote a python script to poll the trackers and then display their location and rotation data!!! Homemade avatar here we come!!!
